Actually, changed to the key-operated version after the electronic one arrived and could not be opened. The manual for the Senator is mostly about the electronic lock reflecting the additional complexity. Although I am a technologist by inclination, I want this product to simply work without fail. Physically, you can see the build quality and feel it from the solid reassuring construction. At a weight of 150kg and bolted to the floor it's not going anywhere. Senator Grade 1 was discounted when I bought so actually about same price as the next one down - so good value for money.

Dealing with Safe.co.uk was excellent - web site is great gives all the information and prices are the best. Staff I spoke to were customer focussed and knowledgeable. The only slight criticism is in the hand-off between them and the delivery company who were supposed to ring and confirm a day for delivery but instead simply rang to say they were arriving in 40 mins.

This safe is good but i selected as an on-line purchase and from knowing the Chubb brand. Had i physically seen the safe before i purchased, i am not sure i would have bought it for the money, the digital lock looks and feels cheap and whilst i am sure the safe is correctly rated for security, i am surprised that for a safe this expensive the components here are not better. The battery compartment is bizarre - the underside of the digital dial just slots out and the battery will literally drop out exposing 2 wires that you connect the battery to (not installed within a frame or the structure of the unit). You connect the battery and then try to push it back into the compartment and close the small compartment door, they could have designed this so much better and made the unit feel that it was solid construction. The rest of the safe is very well made, but the cheapness of this part of the safe is a little un-nerving.

Chubb's instruction booklet could be a lot better as well. Just poorly drawn small pictures as instructions and no text, so i ended up having to talk to Safe.co.uk customer services just to sort getting the set-up of the safe right. These issues seem very easy to put right as low cost componentry and provide a decent instruction booklet?!
