Bulldog DC400 Auto Clamp Reviews

When I fitted the Bulldog DC400 Auto Clamp the first few times I struggled a bit, but once it was on I was very pleased with it. It fitted well without damaging the wheel or the bodywork. After a few goes I found a really simple way to fit it onto our Elldis Autoquest, and now I can get it off and back on in a very short time without much effort. As we have a false grass hard standing, kneeling to fit it is no problem, but I will need to take a mat or similar for use away from home. The design and quality seem very good and the bright yellow colour can be seen from the road, hopefully adding to the deterrent value.

Wow! What an excellent product - does exactly what it says on the box. Just what we need while our motor home isn't being used.The Bulldog DC400 really is a strong piece of kit and well worth the money spent. We now have complete peace of mind when away from the van. Just on it's visability alone, should deter any would be thief. I would thoroughly recommend purchasing one of these and, in fact, have already been singing its praises to a fellow motor homer who wanted advice on social media, and would do so again and again. The clamp is well made and once fitted deters anyone who tries to steal the vehicle. I would recommend it for use with most vehicles without difficulty, but did have trouble with my Landrover Discovery four. It was some time before I could get the clamp onto the wheel as the Y-shaped part would not click into the straight yellow part. I eventually managed to fit the device by taking off the two studs on the Y segment, when it could just connect with the last hole on the Yellow part. I emailed SAFE afterwards and asked if the studs had to be in place. They quickly replied with the answer that the studs could be left off and they asked me to send measurements of the wheel to them. I am sure they will have taken note of this and will make the necessary changes to the clamp to ensure there is no struggle in the future.

We purchased a motorhome earlier this year and store it on our driveway. As there is a significant risk of passing traffic and pedestrians the level of security contained within the motorhome was adequate but we wanted to be showing a visual deterrent to the opportunist would be thief.

The large bright yellow highly visible product was in our opinion the most effective under all heading.

The only problem with the wheel clamp that we are experiencing is the awkward positioning of the feed bar into the locking area. We have tried several methods or fixing the wheel clamp into the correct alignment to achieve being able to lock into position, but we still have four or five attempts before being successful. We are thinking that as the item is large and cumbersome...it has to be to fit the wheel size that is as it should be. Apart from the above delighted with the item and the level of service and advice we received from the supplier.

Takes a lot of space when stored, not easy to take in with you in a motorhome. Does not fold flat. But then, it is built like a tank. Heavy. A bit to big to take on holiday so have a smaller foldable one for that.

This clamp is heavy duty yet very easy to install. Build quality is good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another bulldog product

Having struggled to get a security device large enough to fit the wheels of my Peugot Boxer Van Conversion I was pleased to come across this. It is a little bit tricky to fit / remove until you get the knack! Then it is dead easy - on or off in about 15 seconds. Very solid and a great visual deterrent. Storage could be an issue as it is a little cumbersome but then what do you expect from a solid piece of engineering like this. I would be very happy going away with it in the van and then immediately putting it in place on the vehicle when not camped up. So what's the issue!

I thought the product was very well made and strong. It is for securing our large motorhome. It is very easy to put on and take off (which is ideal when on a campsite) once you know what you are doing. I feel that due to the secure way of fixing onto wheels and the weight of it it would be quite difficult for someone to remove it quickly for stealing vehicle. All in all an excellent purchase which was decided on after days of researching into best one for our needs. I would not hesitate recommending it to others.

The Bulldog DC400 is well built and just the job for me. My Motorhome is parked on our driveway alongside the footpath and is easy to see. The clamp on the front wheel is highly visible and a great deterrent. It is so sturdy that anyone trying to get it off without the keys is going to wake the neighbours. It’s easy to assemble to fit the size of wheels and reasonably easy to fit in place but it is quite heavy, that’s why eae of use inly gets 4 stars. The delivery from Safe was on time as promised and I’d use them again.

I bought this bulldog dc400 auto clamp for my motorhome . I came delivered well packed ,easy to put together I have use this many times over and over again and I'm very delighted with his Product .You just insert the key and the key is spring loaded so when you turn the Key 180° out it pops then another 180° to remover the key , it comes with a spare key so one can be kept on the vehicle key ring and the other one safe .

It's made from very heavy metal and the build quality is superb . I'm thinking of placing an order for another one for My car ,well pleased .

It does what it says - sturdy and strong. A great deterrent. Takes a bit of getting used to when putting on but it gets easier. Easy to take off.

This clamp is very sturdy and well built. I wanted a clamp that looks like it will be difficult to tamper with and this fits the bill.

I use this clamp every day as it is fitted to a working vintage van that has no security . It is quite heavy so some people have difficulty putting it together.

The main issues we have are getting clamp over tyre with very limited room in wheel arch and then lining up the key bolt with one of the holes in the other side . Could have done with some markings as this is the hardest thing to do.

You are supplied with two keys but I got extra which is easy to do.

All in all a good purchase.

Exactly what was needed for the job. Very solidly built, easy to install and unistall, fits well to the wheel and provides a strong visual deterrent to anyone thinking of trying to steal our vehicle. Would certainly recommend this product to secure and protect your car or motorhome.

This is a really good lock, simple to setup initially and fits a wide variety of tyre/wheel sizes.

Easy to fit to vehicle and easy to remove. Good weather resistance, so far no corrosion despite being permanently outside. Folds into a reasonable size for stowage in transit.

There's no doubt that this clamp provides a massive visual deterrent to would be thieves - its bright yellow and very sturdy looking. It is also the only clamp I could find that would fit the extra wide tyres on my VW T6 camper. The construction is heavy steel and unlike many clamps there is a solid disk to prevent the wheel nuts and wheel being removed. I feel fairly confident that my van is safe on our drive with this fitted. Some points to consider.

These points combined mean that it takes a bit of time and effort to fit. But if you want security it does the job for sure

Does what it says on the box. Sturdy and well built. Quite heavy to place on a wheel with a fairly close wheel arch. Better instructions on fitting the clamp to the wheel would be helpful.

It was a little tricky to fit at first but now I’m used to it’s quite easy to use. I purchased it to protect my motorhome that I park on my drive. An excellent deterrent, and very sturdy construction gives me peace of mind.

There is a knack to fitting it but once you have the knack it is easy. Withdrawing the locking pin with the key requires the two parts to the clamp to be 'jiggled' a bit, but again once you have the knack it is not a problem. The bright yellow disk is an obvious deterrent and I can't imagine how even a determined thief would remove it. Our motorhome moved on the chocks while the clamp was fitted and jammed the locking pin in place. But for some innovative thinking this could have ruined our holiday. The locking pin does require lubrication.

good feel safe factor when its fitted on the motor home.

Once it is set up correctly to the vehicle (Fiat Ducato 2.8 TD) it is quite easy to fit and remove. Good visibility, lock well secured and unable to dismantle while fitted.

Unless you are prepared to dismantle the arms after use and I am not, it takes up a great deal of room in a locker. Storing it within the vehicle without securing would be very unwise, with its weight, it could become lethal in an accident. I had to buy less bulbous hubcaps because there was insufficient adjustment on the clamps. My original Bulldog had protectors for the ends if each hook, but not with this one. Because of the above issues, I do not carry it with me, I only use it on the drive at home.

Would have been better if lock was fitted with some kind of cap to protect from the rain.

Having tried and failed to convince a well known high street auto supplier that the product came in 3 variants, Safe supplied the correct version on line aand delivered to the door in minimal time. The product is professionally manufactured and simple to use. I would recommend the DC400 to any Motorhome user and Safe to any potential customer.

Strong, robust deterrent on my motorhome. Find it a bit heavy and awkward to fit by myself but with the wife helping it’s not a problem. Old mans problem rather than product fault probably

Complete waste of our money. Purchased for an extended tour of Europe in our Motorhome. Locking function was hit and miss from day one. Should have returned it whilst still in UK but decided to persevere. After two weeks touring it jammed up completely and ended up in the bin.

Excellent, well made ,easy to use ,I was that impressed that I purchased two more for my new trailer .everyone I spoke to said how good they looked .I informed them how easy to use and operate.all three locks come with two sets of keys ,instructions how to alter all settings they also come in a robust box that you can repack the locks into when you want to pack them for transporting. They are easy to handle and are not to heavy ,the paint work is yellow and is e excellent quality. I would buy again ,they also come with a 12 months warranty
