My bank no longer provides a safe-deposit service so I needed fire-proof water-proof storage for deeds, wills etc.

This is proof against fire for at least one hour, which is twice the length of time offered by most other makes. It is slightly more expensive than some - I'm happy to pay extra for the extra security. It is quite heavy but I find it perfectly manageable (I'm female and in my 70's). It comes with 2 keys - I would have liked a third to leave with a relative. The key is an unusual make so I will have to make a journey to the nearest city to get one cut. This is my only (very minor) quibble.

The safe is strongly built and of a reasonable size and weight. This makes it easy enough to find a space for it within the home which is out of sight but accessible to its owner. The key gave me some issues when opening the safe for the first few times but this seems to have settled down with use. My only real surprise is the warning that came with the safe about not storing valuables inside it which might be affected by water or damp in the event of a fire due to the internal construction of the safe. But this can be circumvented by using a "sea-to-sky" type waterproof bag to place such items in before storing them in the safe.

Great. We have no Rolex or tiara to save from prying eyes. This safe is for important documents. These include birth and marriage certificates, passports, house and fire insurance, all the things you need and would be lost without if your house burns. Where would you find the deeds to your house, which you will need to produce or mortgage certificate? What happens if one of you passes away? The other needs to find out not only where you have bank accounts but with which bank or building society. We also include our will here. Then there are old documents from our family heritage, birth, marriage and death certificates and a few ultra precious old photos. Our present society needs proof of everything about you before it will sanction anything. This safe holds our lives safe. Thank you

This safe is a very efficient storage solution for home and family usage. It is a good size overall to manage a safe storage solution and easy to locate within the home. The exterior dimensions seem somewhat large versus the internal storage space, I suppose this has something to do with the Fire & Waterproofing qualities that the safe provides. The construction is extremely robust and all components appear to give the safe a quality of build that is very good value for money. The ease of usage is a real bonus, no batteries to run out and no security codes to remember - a simple key does it all!

The fire chest was selected for the sole purpose of securing personal items - which are always going to be a nuisance to replace if lost or stolen; worst still if there is a fire. It is capable of storing A4 documents flat - Certificates and the like. The only negative is that it is awkward and heavy to be lifting too high, so really needs to be low down. I'm surprised that no consideration was given to having a handle or two incorporated within the design.

That said I am likely to be purchasing another one as it has sparked a debate within the family for a need to keep documents safe!

This is the prefect size for what I needed. Seems very well built. Confident my valuable and important items are well protected in the event of a fire. It’s nice and heavy as well so wouldn’t be easy to carry out the house. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a fire safe.

The weight, though heavy, is manageable and it seems of sturdy build, with adequate space inside for your vital documents. There is no way to secure it to the floor, so it should be seen as a ‘fire chest’ rather than a ‘safe’ to prevent theft. I keep mine at the base of a wardrobe, discreetly out of site.

My one concern ( and this really is important) is that the lock and the opening catch mechanism, ‘feels’ less ‘robust’ than it ought to, with the catch occasionally ‘sticking’ before opening. This needs addressing by the manufacturer in my opinion.

Have not had to test its full capability luckily.

Very heavy

I was looking for a fire safe for documents but didn't want to pay a fortune. This one seems to fit the bill for the price I paid. Of course I haven't tested it as it does get ruined if it is exposed to fire - the lid melts closed. It is extremely heavy and difficult to move around as it doesn't have handles. - I wouldn't be bothering to try and save it if I was running out of the house from a fire. It locks with a key and a spare is supplied. It would have been nice to have an extra 2 keys as I would like to leave keys with other relatives and obtaining extra keys is a palaver as you have to have your ID verified. Also, the instructions tell you to register it in order to have a free replacement if it is spoiled in a fire but after endless going round in circles it seems this is no longer necessary. Overall it is fine for the purpose we purchased it and we are very pleased with it for what it cost us.

Good product, easy to use and a perfect size for discrete storage

A Great safe. We bought it to keep important documents safe from fire or flood and it would appear to be just what we needed.

I originally ordered a smaller version of this safe, which when delivered and tried I realised was too small. Upon contacting safe customer services I returned it to the offices in Preston who arranged for a full refund immediately. After discussions we decided that this was the correct one for my requirements, but unfortunately they didn't have it in stock. After a few days they contacted me to say it had now arrived, and did I want to collect it. Unfortunately I wasn't going in that direction for a few days so they delivered it to me at home. Great customer service from start to finish and a great product at a competitive price!

The only downsize to the box is it’s weight, it is very heavy. I had some initial problems opening and closing but customer support were great and helped me to resolve the problem very quickly. It’s very solid and I feel very happy knowing that all my important documents are well protected.

Bought this safe as wanted something we could easily move which was also fire proof as have some no replaceable documents. Does what we wanted, even look in where it is located and miss that it there which is great.

I originally bought the fire chest last autumn. Early this year the lid fell off and although I could put the lid back it was clear that it was not right. I contacted safe and told them of the problem. They asked for photographs of the lid and on receipt of the pictures notified me that they were sending a replacement. No argument, no problems. The new fire chest arrived quickly and works without any problems. They did not require the old chest back so there was no hassle with collection. All in all an excellent experience. I intend to use the firm again when I need a larger fire proof safe in the near future.

This safe is actually produced (exactly the same safe!) by two different brands who seem to ship each other's products interchangeably if one is out of stock. The ONLY observable difference is the logo printed on the box, even the keys are the same! The suppliers are Sentry-Safe and Master-Lock.

I am actually not a builder nor do I often engage in DIY - I actually work in web/IT. As such I have a nice setup, I use my own laptop at work with a nice keyboard (compact) and mouse (gaming). I also have a Razer headset and need somewhere to keep all my junk (batteries, tobacco, superglue - man stuff). I wasn't comfortable just leaving it all out in the open over weekends, nor could I be bothered to take it all home.

Fed up of missing mugs and mouses at your work environment? Don't own a pack-mule and thus can't carry everything you like to have at work home every day? Get one or two of these.

They call it a safe, I don't really think of these products as such. With a safe I expect it to be non-mobile (can't be lifted up) with a combination dial for access. I call these under-desk lockers. Flip em' open, fling your stuff in close em' up. Very handy and they actually do more than they need to for this purpose (e.g: they are fully fire proof). If your office does burn down, your items will survive. Hopefully that won't happen to you but that's nice to know. Pretty sure they're also water tight but on that point you'd have to confirm with one of the suppliers.

Considering how cheap, effective and secure these are - I wouldn't buy anything lesser. If I need more space, I'll just buy a third one and stack them up under my desk.

No one's going to run off with these in a hurry, they're extremely hefty. Picking them up isn't easy - and that's GOOD, it deter thieves.

Would recommend this product to a new audience entirely, simple office workers. It's a missed opportunity that these haven't been marketed to us before now, in this review ;)

Product exactly as described, perfect for A4 size documents.

What can you say about a safe - it certainly seems to do the job ok. I hope I don't, have to test it with regards to being fire and water proof. It's quite heavy so not easy to move around.

We needed a document safe mainly to store our wills and powers of attorney documents. We chose this one because of its size, and that it is possible to move it about. We chose it chiefly because it has good waterproof and fire resistant credentials. We are very pleased with it. The key is easy to use but feels very secure, and the safe itself is small enough to store under a shelf in a cupboard. It looks smart, though, and would not be out of place stored more visibly in a home office set up. It is roomy enough inside to put all the papers we need to in it, although not with folders that are larger than A4, but this is no problem and everything is kept very tidy inside.

Very surprised at how solid this safe is and confident that it is secure.

Overall this product is great and has provided what we needed in terms of document storage. It looks sturdy and seals tightly. We purchased it primarily for protection against water and fire, hopefully though we will never have to test it's waterproof or fireproof capability!

Sturdy, quality product.

A great product, which is well made and just the right size to hide away. I'm not really using it as a security safe, because you'd have to penetrate the material to screw it down which may potentially affect its fire rating or water rating. It's ideal for what I require in terms of storing just a few documents and computer discs. I particularly liked the one hour fire rating when many other similar items only have 1/2 hour rating. The only problem that I've been having is trying to get additional keys. The blanks aren't available in locksmiths. It would be great to get help from Safe.co.uk on this matter.

The Safe is quiet heavy and it is not as big from inside as I initial thought. Double check the size and weight before you buy as returns are not free and because this is quiet heavy it will cost abit to send back

I was in need of a safe container to store back up drives for my company's server, as previous to this I would take them home - With the advent of the new GDPR laws, I had to make sure the information was going to be very secure. I saw the Master Lock chest as a perfect solution, as it is fire and waterproof. A bonus is that it is big enough for me to store important contracts an documents - a much better solution for those than a locked cupboard in my office. All in all, a great piece of kit that does just what I want it to do and really good value for money.

I looked long and hard for a safe to fit my purpose and finally went for the Master Lock LCFW30100 Waterproof Fire Chest. My major consideration was that it had to be big enough to fit A4 sheets without having to fold them as I wanted to store legal documents along with important items like certificates and passports. Many other safes on the market purported to hold A4 papers but the reviews for those safes often suggested that this was not correct. This safe does what it says. It’s definitely large enough and is of a robust material. It is very heavy though so I suggest putting it in situ before filling it, and that you have enough clearance above it for the lid to remain open while in use. A word of warning: the lid is extremely heavy and if it’s not opened to it’s full 90 degrees it can come down hard on your hands! Keep out of reach of young children. Another major feature is the fire resistance. I have peace of mind that my important deeds and documents are protected in case the house goes up in flames. Where I live it’s very unlikely that we’d be flooded but again it’s a nice feature that the safe is waterproof. It’s portable (if you can lift it) and you can’t fix it to the floor or wall, but I’m not storing the family jewels in it (!) so I’m very happy with my purchase and consider it very good value for money.

Very heavy and strong. I could not lift it! Difficult for someone to run off with! Obviously a good safe. Easy to to use. A dark colour, so easy to hide in the home. A good size for storing photos and important memorabilia and papers. Ideal for the home or small office. Made me feel safe knowing that family photos are protected. Happy that it's fire and water proof up to an hour. Pleased with this time as some are only safe for 30 minutes. The price was right and delivery excellent. I would certainly recommend. We needed a safe to keep documents - deeds, private papers, certificates, etc. - safe from fire and theft. This one corresponded to our needs and so we bought it. We will have to find a place to keep the keys though! it fits neatly under the bureau in the study.

Very good and sturdy build quality - not too heavy, but reassuringly solid. Good locking mechanism and can easily take A4 documents laying flat inside. useful to put passports, insurances and other one off documents safely! One disappointment would be the lack of a handle - this would be very useful when getting it out of it's current safe place. Product arrived promptly and when promised, packaging very good and secure,good service all round and would not hesitate to recommend them for friends and family! Get one now for piece of mind - and it's not too expensive either!

Very secure safe for valuables with good fire-protection.It was quite dusty( residue from fire-protection treatment) when it arrived but easily cleaned. The safe is very compact and very heavy so would not be easily'carried off'.It is easy to lock & unlock but there is a 'nack' to releasing the lid, after unlocking. easily fits into a small space and is easy to conceal fairly well and the safe has given me a lot of 'peace of mind' that my valuables are quite safe from theft and also from damage or destruction from fire for at least two hours.

As our local bank branch where we held our house deeds was closing we needed a safe fireproof place to store them. The safe was exactly as described in the advert, delivery was promptly and fitted the job perfectly, I hope never to wish to test it's credentials but it sure looks like it should be as safe an environment as you can get for your important documents and other little bits. We have shown this to friends of ours who are in the same situation and were very impressed, I know I have read another report that said not enough keys were supplied but I found the three keys perfectly adequate.

I live in a house that was built in the 1930s and I have the original complete set of deeds the land and house purchase which makes fascinating reading. I realised that if there was a fire or serious damage to the house these would be lost. And then looking from a broader point of view, also the family photos, which I have copies of my computer would also be lost forever. I was not particularly fussed about the theft security of it, as these items had very little financial value, but a great deal of hassle and memorable value. Mind you, you will struggle to run down the road with it as it's very heavy.

I did a search for a fire and water resistant safe that was big enough to hold these oversized (somewhat larger than A4) deed files. I found this Master Lock safe was big enough, but also had a capacity that could accommodate considerably more.

I have now stored in this box DVD copies of a family photos, photocopies of our driving licences in case the DVLA lose them (not unknown), insurance policies (can you remember the name of all your insurance policies?), and we are also executors of someone else's will, so as well as our own wills these are also stored. There are still plenty more room if I can think of anything else to go in there.

I decided the best place to keep this fire safe is under the stairs because from my experience in the building trade this is one of the strongest prices in the house and is reasonably accessible.

We had used a small fire-safe for some time, but when the bank notified us that they were no longer providing secure storage, I looked for something larger. While the outer dimensions are much larger than the inner, there's still ample room for all our important and irreplaceable documents, deeds, wills, certificates, passports etc, accommodating up to A4 without folding. We also use it to store our backup drives and memory sticks. My impression is that the simple key lock wouldn't stand up to a determined thief, but I bought it as protection against fire and flood. In any case, as there's no means of fastening it down, I expect a thief would carry it away. Having said that, be aware it's no featherweight, despite being described as 'lightweight and portable'. Overall, we are very happy with it and, hopefully, we'll never have to report on its effectiveness.

I was inspired to buy this when a friend had a fire in her house and in made me think! I found the buying process very easy. The safe itself appears to be excellent, although sometimes the catch seems a bit difficult to open. A warning - it is very heavy and quite difficult to manouvre. You would not expect to remove this quickly from anywhere and it needs a strong place to store it. However none of this is a problem to me and it is big enough to hold all our valuable household and personal documents with space to spare. I would recommend this item.

Exactly what I was looking for but in hindsight I would have liked some sort of handle, it is rather clumbersom to transfer from place to place. I am though very happy with the product and it does exactly what it says. Would purchase again.

Power of attorney for my mother so need to keep all her documents separate and safe. Just the job to know everything is safer and in one place. Easy access and peace of mind. I now have two safe’s one for my own use.

I recently purchased fire proof chest and I am delighted with the product. It arrived on time and was heavier than expected but reflects the quality of the product. Easy to use and big enough to hold all the documents I wanted to keep safe like deeds, wills and other personal documents. It is not massively large but I picked it for the type of documents I wanted to store and it is perfect for my usage. Does not take up too much room and is not unsightly. It’s weight would not make it easy to carry away easily as I know the courier struggled with it when delivering it. Overall an ideal waterproof fire safe.

Exceptional chest

I looked on many websites for a good sized, sturdy and effective storage box that would protect personal paperwork items against fire and flood. I found this item on the safe.co.uk website and it looked like it was exactly what I wanted.

The safe box was easy to order, well priced and arrived within a few days. The safe box is heavy, but needs to be to be effective. I have managed to fit in all my vital documents (e.g. House deeds etc) for myself and my mother, so it has been perfect for my needs.

Would highly recommend.

Product good. Very heavy though!! Good design and very sturdy. I wish it was slightly larger internally as many documents were larger than box and had to be folded which used up space. However it is still a good product to keep documents secure.

It does exactly what it says on the box. Simple, easy to use and not so heavy it cannot be moved around the house to where it is best suited. My insurance company rated it highly and I know have a mechanism to store documents and the odd irreplaceable item and be sure that in the event of fire or flood (with the extra security from theft adding to my peace of mind) I stand a very good chance of preserving things that mean a lot to me or would make my life extremely complicated were they to be destroyed. The cost of the safe was negligible when set against these advantages and I have no doubts or hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Excellent Product

I purchased this unit as a compromise between document protection and security, with low price and quick delivery major considerations. As such, I have got what I was looking for. My suggestions for improving the producct would be to redesign the almost non-existant hand grips; this is a heavy piece of kit and is difficult to pick up. However, it would be very easy for a thief to remove and, although I know that I could have bought a safe, I feel that it ought to possible to incorporate some option for anchoring the unit to a wall or floor without compromising the fire and water resistance properties.

Overall, it appears to be a good way of protecting documents from damage, at a very reasonable price.

Cost effective way of storing important documents.

Good sturdy box. Suitable for A4 documents stored flat in a wallet, which was what we wanted. Still plenty of room for other important things, wills, passports etc.

Hopefully the chest will never be tested but from its construction I'm confidant it will protect the contents if the worst happens. It's big enough for a portable backup disk and a reasonable amount of documents (as I have used it for) but a bigger size might be needed for more substantial items. For more security a chest permanently attached to a wall/floor would be better but would be significantly more expensive and be less flexible in its location.

The proof of the pudding is how well it responds in a fire which hopefully never happens! It is well made, robust and capacious and is accurately described. It takes A4 papers. It is quite heavy. Overall it is exactly as described and good value and delivered in a timely fashion.

Stores A4 without trouble, and has good capacity. Feels very solid and I hope I never find lot how good it is at resisting fire. Only down side is the lack of a carry handle, so it needs both hands to move it about.

Hopefully I never get to find out if it’s as good as it claims to be!

Master well known and trusted name.

I wanted a secure fireproof chest to safely store our family documents. The Master Lock LCFW30100 Waterproof Fire Chest is perfect and allows us to store everything we need with space to spare!

It is a little heavy and could probably be improved with the addition of a handle of some sort to help lift it and move it around a little more easily. That said, the sheer weight of the chest does instil confidence as it looks and feels incredibly sturdy.

Having researched the different fireproof chests that are available, I feel that this is amongst the best on offer at the moment and can highly recommend it.

Very strong, well built. Takes A4 laid flat.

I suspect it wouldn't be too difficult to force the lock on the box, which is why I only gave that aspect 3*, however that's not the point of the safe - it is to stop fire burning precious documents, rather than determined burglars. This is the second box I've bought and it represents good value with decent capacity for A4 items and 1 hr protection from fire, 3 days from flooding.

It clear does the job advertised and is very well made, but it would be much more useful to my application if it had a larger storage size for its weight. I purchased several chests to make up for the lack of storage space, but they become extremely heavy as soon as more than one chest is used together, which creates a problem if the floor is not very strong and involves the extra cost of strengthening the floor.. So I would recommend a larger storage capacity but without significantly increasing the weight, whilst also maintaining the excellent value for money and build quality.

Safe arrived on time and was exactly what I was after. I wanted something that I would be able to keep important documents safe and in one place. More than enough room for all the various things I wanted to keep in it. It is heavy, but I prefer that to it feeling light and flimsy. There is no handle for ease of carrying, so if it needs to be moved about regularly, this is something to consider. Also there is no means of securing it to a fixed point. Neither are an issue for me, so I am more than happy with the purchase.

We bought the Master Lock LCFW30100 Waterproof Fire Chest to store our wills given the charges levied by third party storage providers. We liked the fact that the chest was both fire and waterproof and was large enough to store everything we could think off (passports, birth/marriage certificates, life assurance documents etc.). The chest feels really solid and is very heavy, so without any handles it can be difficult to manouevre. The biggest issue we have found is that the safe doesn't seem to close fully (leaving a gap right around the join between the top and bottom sections), which makes you wonder exactly how fire/water proof it really is. Getting the lid open and closed (by turning the key) can also prove difficult sometimes - almost as if the latch isn't quite lined up. As we now rarely need to open it we've decided to live with it, but it you are looking for a chest to use on a more regular basis this might not be the one for you.

Thus is a very heavy, well built unit. Yes it has to be said that if you were burgled it could be picked up, however the safe has rounded edges making it difficult to carry. I bought it for it’s fire and water security so it meets my requirements fully.

Really pleased with purchase,extra peace of mind which means its good value for money,storage space is reasonable,but really adaquate for the most important documents needed in the case of a fire.ive made this purchase after a friends house was burnt to the ground,after speaking to him told me to try and find insurance imformation of who he was insurured with was stressfull and time consuming,something which was not needed at this time,passports gone ,credit cards/debit,everything which would of made things easier to sort out temporary accomadation out until insurance sorted out,even the basics of money for food ,,these boxes are something which i would never of thought about unless you know of others who have been through the tragic events of a fire

IT’S A DECENT LITTLE SAFE

The Master Lock LCFW30100 Waterproof Fire Chest safe, was a clear choice for me, because it looked sturdy and was very competitively priced. I did a lot of research first to find exactly what I wanted, that is, a compact but roomy safe that would protect items from fire and water damage should that ever be needed. It arrived very quickly. It was soundly packaged, and after careful inspection, was exactly as described. I was pleased at how much I could fit into it. There are specific instructions on how to use and store the safe, that is, which way up it must be stored. I was pleased with the strong build and the heavy weight. I would recommend this safe, and also the company. It was my first purchase from them, and I would be happy to use safe.co.uk again.

It was an ideal safe for the item we wanted to store inside safely. Does the job it was meant for, however, we hope we don't get to the situation where it will be tested to extreme! A heavy, solid item, that once placed doesn't want to be moved too often, but built to last and keep things safe and secure. We aim to be using it for the next 20 years and beyond and if we require a larger safe, will be looking to go back to this company for the necessary equipment in the future. Well worth the money.

I decided it was time to improve the security of my important documents. What if we had a house fire. Well, we are well insured. But the insurance documents have burned with the house. Hmmm. A fire safe might be a good idea. And how about saving key digital documents and images to a USB stick and putting them in there, too. Great. This fire safe meets all my requirements and has given me great peace of mind. I hope I never need its protection but I am glad to have it.

The Master Lock Waterproof fire chest is a winner for a number of reasons, it is well built which gives confidence that if it came to it, it would protect your important valuables from fire etc. It also is easy to use and is very secure. The internal volume to external size is excellent so the storage capacity is as big as it actually seems. Overall I am very very happy with the product and I would have no reservations about recommend it to anyone who has a similar need to myself. Ten out ten on all aspects, very good.

I was recommended this company by a friend. This product was initially bought for keeping house documents, passports and birth certificates in. It is with complete confidence that I use it for almost everything of value when I am on holiday etc. It is extremely heavy to move about but it is so inconspicuous sitting in the bottom of my cupboard. I was advised that a key only option is better as battery operated locks can be problematic. I thought there would be more storage space given the size of the exterior but it's great for my needs. Other family members now intend to buy one too.

Just what I needed for important papers, if the house goes up in flames it's safe, and safe when the fire brigade uses water to put the fire out.

A good product which meets my needs for safe storage of important documents and back up disks. Does need a firm push on the lid to lock or unlock.

Excellent build quality , keeps all our important documents safely. The fact it is both waterproof and one hour fired rated gives confidence that should the worste happen there is confidence that your documents and valuables will survive

this was not the safe that i ordered but due to lack of stock i was offered this as an upgrade at the same price, delivered next day, simple to use but gives you the feeling of real security, my family and i are more than happy and have the peace of mind that all of our personal documentation is stored safely and securely. the safe itself is solid and strong but easy to use with good instructions. it is constructed with materials that make it heavy to move and no-one is going to pick it up and run away with it.

Great product - good capacity for cost and ideal for my needs. Was the best value that I could find online by far.

It is wrote the money, very high quality and really secure one.

We needed a small safe to store some important documents and like the fire protection this provides. This is a great product and is discreet and can be stored in a safe place. It is printable and can be moved offsite should we have to. We chose the key version which means either of us has easy access. We would recommend this

This was purchased for storage of critical property documents - it’s a good size inside and fits everything we need. The website makes it clear on the internal dimensions. It looks well built but obviously not tested yet in a fire!

These safes are heavy.

As there are no handles ( which is understandable) Ive found its easy to move about in a typical bag for life.

I read all the reviews I could find on this safe and Safe.Co before buying this safe.

I'm amazed that some people moaned concerning a bit of dust in the interior.... Get over it folks. It's the concrete compound which gives the safe the ability to withstand heat and fire for 30 minutes(maybe more) and to keep water out if it's inundated by the same.

Good and heavy(stops billy Burglar from running away with it lol), easy to use and has masses of capacity inside for all the documents which are so important like the house deeds, last will's, powers of attorney and loads of others too numerous to mention.

The lid needs to be pushed down a little to help making it easier to disengage the locks, which are robust enough to keep the lid closed, even when the safe is dropped, as i found out.

I could've paid 3 times the amount for another company for a similar make and model and I was a little cautious about how cheap it was but I needn't have worried. It's excellent value for money and was a good buy. I'm very pleased with it.

I bought this safe to keep documents and hard drives safe from fire/flooding and it has more than met expectations. It is a good size - it was bigger than it looked from pictures online. There is plenty of space to store documents and an external hard drive or two. Ive put in a few packets of silica beads to absorb moisture to protect the hard drives. Ive needed to change them more frequently than i thought but it’s not an issue.

I don’t think the safe is meant to protect against theft. It is heavy but easy enough pick up and carry.

The safe is sturdy and the seal is very tight. It has a lock which keeps out curious children

This product was delivered quickly and meets my expectations; I am very pleased with this waterproof fire chest. It is easy to store yet with a surprising amount of internal space. Depending on how one wishes to use the chest it could be placed under a shelf or in a cupboard or hidden in recess.It is weighty and therefore cannot easily be 'spirited away' and its' design and build suggests it will withstand the external pressures, water and fire hazards that the manufacturers promise.

The locking mechanism is sturdy and quick to use and it is a relief that it is not necessary to remember a code.

The safe seems very solid and well built. It certainly provides the level of physical security we were looking for - I only hope we never have to test its ability to withstand fire and water!

This is my first safe. I wanted it for some small papers such as passport and jewellery. I love its fire proof rating. Its not huge inside but I knew that before purchase and it suits my needs. It's pretty heavy and its small enough to be discreet in a cupboard. Very happy with it. One problem was the delivery took a long time. The product was out of stock when I ordered it and it took more than 2 months to get back in stock. That said, safe UK customer service team were in contact with me the whole time to keep me updated.

a very good quality product that offers enough space for the storage of important documents such as house deeds etc.Fire protection is an important feature but obviously cannot comment on its effectiveness.It feels well made and secure but this comes at a price of being quite heavy to move around and to find a suitable place to store it. This is not a problem for us as the documents we store are not required on a daily basis For a quality product the price is very reasonable as the product is far superior to other cheaper alternatives that I have looked at or used previously.

This appears to be a solid well constructed chest and the 1 hour fire rating is definitely a bonus over similar items on sale. It is very heavy but that is not unexpected taking into account its construction and performance.

Storage capacity is adequate for A4 size documents. If however you need to store the old type foolscap or legal documents, they will not fit without folding. This could be a problem with house deeds or legal documents that are of some age.

I haven't been aware of the damp problems mentioned in some reviews.

All in all, I would recommend this chest over a lot of the others as it offers much increased performance at a reasonable price tag.

The Master Lock LCFW30100 waterproof fire chest appears to be well built and is very heavy, not for carrying around, but ideal for placing at the bottom of the wardrobe. It is not designed to be partially secure, with a simple light duty latch and lock, but it’s a fire chest for things you don`t want to lose if there were a fire or flood, your house deeds, home insurance, wills, passports etc. There is ample room for these type of documents and more. What drew me to this model was the 60 minuets fire protection, 24 hour water protection and the ability to hold A4 documents laid flat, together with a very competitive price and free delivery. If you want a security store, buy a safe or better still use a bank safe deposit box, but if you want to protect from fire and flood items that are important to you, buy one of these.

This is the first safe I've ever owned but having looked at a few others its compact size and solid build quality made it stand out from others in this price range. Purchasing from Safe.co.uk was made easy and the safe was delivered promptly. The lock mechanism is simple and strong and the weight of the unit is reassuring. For documents etc this looks to be the perfect way to ensure security from theft or damage from water or fire. So far I've been very happy with it and may even buy a second one for my personal documents to go in.

Really pleased with this safe. Much larger storage capacity than thought. I can get a plastic folder in here with all my papers in order, as well as more paperwork and discs. Well made. It takes approximately 2 packs of 500 reams of paper.

This is an excellent product, the build quality is first class. My only niggle is that it is very, very heavy but presumably to be able to offer the fire and water protection it does this is necessary.

Excellent product. Was told that the courier could not be guaranteed to bring it up to my flat (due to a back problem I could not carry it) and I would need to make my own arrangements for this.

However the courier was very helpful and offered to carry it up for me.

The product seems to be fine and well made, but we hope we will never have to experience a fire to be sure that it is fit for purpose. Only though would we be certain.

We were looking for a fireproof storage unit, rather than just a securely locked unit, so we were not put off by any doubt about the lock mechanism.

The unit is surprisingly heavy, but we find that reassuring in believing it would indeed protect documents for the time given.

The storage capacity allows for more documents than we expected, with a selection of wills, passports, data storage usb sticks, insurance documents etc. and easily accommodates A4 size documents.

Due to its weight, and the external finish, it is quite unwieldy, but once we had it in place we don't envisage having to move it at all.

It is difficult to perform an accurate review on this item as it is not like a pair of jeans where you can compare against previous purchases. The items robustness and ability to withstand fire or water ingress is also difficult to asses as it would be necessary to subject the safe to these elements. If I take it for granted that the item will perform as advertised, then I am pleased with my purchase, the item looks to be well made and easy to use. There is sufficient space within the unit for my family's certificates, will, house deeds and limited valuables, e.g. small items of jewellery. The safe is heavy and therefore requires to be sited on a firm base.

Great safe, though the only thing which lets it down is the opening mechanism. It doesn't always work first time and feels like your going to break when you open it. Other than that working well.

The safe was well built and perfect for storing 4 documents, computer data keys, cash and other small items. The box is heavy so that it can be moved about but highly unlikely to be taken in the event of the house being burgled. It is reassuring that it is fire rated and so would the contents would survive a small or moderate fire. I think the product is ideal for people who want to have a simple safe but do not want to go to the significant expense or go to the trouble of having something built into the building fabric.

Excellent product.

I bought this to store important documents and hard drives to protect against the risk of fire.

It has a very sturdy build with a decent latch and a key lock.

To be honest the lock does not look secure and I reckon I could get into it with a paperclip if I needed to, but security is not the primary purpose of this product.

Although I luckily haven't had to test it against fire, it looks much better than other products I have seen and has a higher fire rating than most in this price range.

It is from a well known manufacturer and I purchased from safe.co.uk at a very reasonable price.

All in all I am very happy with my purchase and am comfortable in the knowledge that, if I were to have a catastrophic fire, there is a very good chance my documents, photos etc would be preserved.

Great product ans what made it even better the speed of delivery

This is an excellent product. For me it really fits the bill, I did not want a safe fixed to the wall since these are not always fireproof and can be just too attractive to thieves. For me the advantage of the Waterproof and Fire Proof chest is that I can place it anywhere in the house, typically this would be in a concealed and not obvious location such as in the deep freeze (not where mine is !). Since I travel a lot I wanted a chest I could take with me, I can always leave it a hotel safe although some hotels decline to place it in their safe due to it's size. The point is it offered flexible security - just what I want.

it gives great comfort. its heavy and so a thief has to think twice to carry such a heavy object. However lifting is tricky especially for one not trained in correct lifting of such heavy thing; especially one without a handle to hold to. Locking is not very convincing as the lock looks very delicate. keys also very fragile. However I'd still recommend people to buy it.

The fire safe was delivered quickly and was as advertised. It seems to be well made and are sure it would preform very well in the unlikely event of a fire. I had imagined that the interior size of the safe would be larger, but that is purely down to me. The lock on the safe is the kind you would find on any locker, so the term safe is only relevant to its fire resistance. It's best security would be to hide it. I have been advised to not put it above the kitchen (we live in a bungalow) or similar. The safe came with two keys. All in all very happy with my purchase.

When the storage chest arrived, the weight was a suprise .but obviously essential fr the fireproofing material. as you idicated it is not a secure box but I think it would a put off a thief, if they could find it ,I am sure our documents will be safe from fire or intruders.

The finish is good, the locking mechanism simple and the build quality solid. Any buyer should check prior to purchase that they can manhandle this sort of weight into position. The price is reasonable for the quality but the thickness of the insulation within the structure means that the internal capacity is less than the external dimensions would lead you to hope for. I very much hope that the waterproof fire chest remains untested but it is a box that encourages confidence that it would perform as specified.

Great product! Very strong and well made. It was very easy to order and quick to arrive. I can now protect important documents with peace of mind. The only reason I only gave ‘Ease of use’ 4 stars was because it was much heavier than I thought it would be, but then no one would be able to run up the road with it easily. 🙂

The chest is solid and well made and while it has not been tested (and I hope it won't be), I'm sure that it will protect as it should. Storage space is fine for A4 size documents, but wouldn't take anything bigger. The unit is quite heavy so is not something you're going to move about a lot. All in all happy with the purchase and I would recommend it to others.

After a lot of research, we ordered this item as it appeared to be the best product available to meet our needs. It is easy to use, of good quality and has more than adequate storage capacity. The lock provides a good level of security. A good value for money fire and waterproof chest.

This box has a nice chunky feel to it and seems to seal well when closed.

It now holds our passports, birth certificates and USB backups for our computers etc in an upstairs cupboard. Hopefully it will make the difference between them surviving a small domestic fire and being destroyed in one should the need arise.

Much smaller than a safe and more portable, can be stored more conveniently around the house. We have managed to fit all important documents etc into it but that has now filled it. The lid is not the easiest to release with quite a small catch. The lid is very heavy and easy to accidentally drop as again the catch is small so not much to hold as you open it. You do need to slam it shut for the catch to engage something to be mindful of and check if you do purchase one of these, which I would still recommend. We haven't had a fire, flood or break in just yet so very hard to comment on it's effectiveness.
