Swann DVR-4580 8 Channel HD 1080p - 4 Camera True Detect CCTV Kit Reviews

We bought the Swann DVR8-4575 8 Channel HD 1080p - 4 Camera True Detect CCTV Kit as a replacement for our existing system as we wanted more camera coverage and our existing recorder was ageing. We had done our online research and reviews showed that this kit was the one for us.

On arrival we found that our previous system was from Swann too so two new cameras connected seamlessly into the original wiring; meaning we had less drilling to do.

As a family we really like the smart app and have this on all family smart phones. Great when our uni son had a house party when we were away! You can adjust phone notifications so that you have alerts when one or more cameras identifies a person (or animal, or car). This is great if you are expecting a parcel delivery.

The system works over Wi-Fi which means it needs to be within communicating range of your router to work. A clear benefit is the 1TB memory. When contacting customer services when a camera was blurry we were very, very impressed with their support which solved our issue.

We would thoroughly recommend this product.

The four camera kit product was easy to order including the ordering of two extra cameras on line a few week later and the delivery was as said it would be on time with a polite delivery operative; relatively easy for installation with a little extra thought taken beforehand on were best to position each camera to get best effect and coverage around your home for best affect and results you will need a ladder, to make sure they are higher enough so they cannot be tampered with which was hard on my bungalow at one point we used a old satellite dish bracket to support two of the cameras so as not easy to tamper with; you will need a drill, wall plugs and in some cases need like we did extra lengths of some cables. So fare a great product works well, nothing else I can say. Allen Coles, Lydd, Kent.

This system is proving to be an excellent buy. Top quality in every respect and producing outstanding images.

The system is easy to install and is very much plug and play. The app which supports the system occasionally fails but that tends to be because the phone reception is not good enough. In WiFi zone there is never a problem.

When comparing with other makes this system gives exceptional value for money. This is strongly recommended.

Item is easy to set up and use. But after only three weeks!!!!! The hard drive failed. Technical dep is in the philapines and totally usless. Good luck if you have the miss fortune to have to call them. Eventually got the item replaced but cost me to ship it. Great item but back up is poor so if I was you look else where for a better item. Safe were helpful to me and did try to help. Wish I hadn’t bought

Easy to set up, great delivery and does what it says on the tin, even have it working via mobile provider due to cock up by broadband supplier. Cant fault it or the service from the SAFE

Disclaimer: I'm a home DIY enthusiast, not a security professional.

It's the only camera I could find on the market with reasonable price and built in PIR detector. PIR is great to eliminate false alerts and we rarely have a few. It's a bit fiddly to set up, had to do some research to properly do the port forwarding and etc (for the app to show camera), but otherwise very reliable and good value.

Pros:

- Good quality picture day and night

- Wide viewing angle (105 degrees)

- Great movement and PIR sensor with very few false alarms

- Function to send an email whenever there's movement is also very useful

- Wired (both the cameras and the DVR to the home network) so connection is very reliable.

- Lots of options to set it up based on the security requirements.

- No batteries to change

Cons:

- Because it's wired I needed to drill a 400mm long 20mm diameter whole into the house to fit the conduit and the huge coaxial cable connectors (in hindsight I would just cut off the connectors and refit them now). For the sake of reliability, it's not a huge deal for me.

- Android app is not the best, but it works. Alerts from it are not 100% reliable (might be the phone's issue).

- Picture quality could be better.

- Fiddly setup if you want it to watch it through the mobile app and it's not very well documented.

Very easy to set up, picture quality generally good, a little grainy at night.

Found it a little difficult to playback on my mobile device, but no problem on my main monitor.The whole system could do with an idiots guide, as most of the functions are easy to use once you understand them, but the manual makes a lot of them seem more difficult than they are.Care should be taken when positioning the cameras, as sometimes the not so obvious location can be the best.The lower position cameras were far more productive in the fact that they actually captured useable footage, ie faces , number plates etc. Just out of reach and partially hidden would be my recommendation.

The Swann DVD’s is OK but suffers some difficulties which I am still having to address, once setup I have noticed that each camera goes to disabled after being setup for motion detect and believe this may be a consequence of the weekly planned reboot set in th3 config. The sam3 goes for remote viewing of cameras which ban be difficult.

I have a simple Chinese camera inside the house which was setup once and i can view it wherever I am in the world and never had an hiccup. The Swann has remote viewing issues which can be seen from messages on the various forums.

The quality of the product looks good however and 5hw recording quality is high

Very Pleased with my Purchase and even had a Police Officer & Chief Inspector from the Police to say they were very impressed with the system. A Great but Also Quality Product from Safe. The Quality of the image is perfect and recording. Remote Access is perfect and when I have needed help, called the number on the box and been able to speak to someone on the helpline who was also very helpful and there to answer any concerns we had with the system. With the Likes of Maplins Closing down, its good to know we have online store such as SAFE whom truly offer Great Value for our Money.

Best cctv, good quality and easy to use. The good thing was that Safe provided engineers who came to install the camera for us. Clear pictures even at night, motion control also makes it easier to distinguish movements between pets and people. The best thing we ever did !!!

Great kit at a good price, the App is good once you get used to the playback but the Live play is good - really sharp footage on a monitor. The cameras look good on the house and not too obtrusive. Our CCTV fitter had good things to say about the kit and he installed the 4 cameras in one day. Early days but happy so far, time will tell if they can cope with bad weather or water ingress. Zoom function doesn't seem to operate on the App but does so on the monitor and the clarity on that is really good, number plates etc, not so much on the App even in high res.

The system was no harder to fit than I had expected. It is wired, which means running cables. Now that it is all in, it is powered from the mains. I bought a cheap monitor from eBay, which helped with the setting up. Connecting to wifi was really easy, so I could use a tablet to angle each camera.

The instructions were very clear and everything fits together very easily. I fitted the cameras under the guttering at either end of the house, which is probably a little too high for the sensors to be totally effective. It doesn't register every arrival and departure, although it is still a deterrent, so no complaints.

My friend had a Swan security system and said they are really good, bought one fitted it myself really good quality and really easy to fit, you get a really good picture from the camera's and I've connected it to my TV, so if you hear something going on outside you can see nice and clear on the TV and the night vision quality is excellent, it constantly record's so you can use the play back to check anything, I've also got it connected to my phone so I can check it anywhere and don't have any connection problems, overall excellent product

Best picture and very clear images

We as a company have bought several of these from Safe.co.uk over the past year. I can say that with over 20 systems purchased we have had absolutely no problems with the equipment so far. The company is easy to deal with when negotiating bulk discount and I strongly suggest if you are buying more than one to speak to them directly as they are very accomodating. We also have used our own outdoor spec cameras with these systems and all our clients have been extremely pleased with the outcome.

If you need to remotely see what's going on around your property then this system will do the job!

At first it was great set up easy work for 3 days then four channels went down because I had it abroad Swan refuse to to issue a new one until this one is Returned months later with no security disappointed with the company swann

The sales process was excellent, and I was walked through the various options, alternatives, advantages and disadvantages of various systems and manufacturers.

Having had the Swann system for about 4 months I am extremely pleased with my choice.

The system was very easy to install and set up and has worked perfectly (except for a faulty camera - but this was replaced under warranty, no quibble, within 3 days, directly from Swann). Safe support staff also followed up to make sure that all was O.K. and that my problem had been resolved.

Additional cameras were easy to add (when I realized that I could not get the coverage I wanted with 4) and the advice before purchase to get an expandable system was invaluable.

Overall, extremely satisfied with the process, cost, performance and support.

I like the system, good quality video, even in the dark, having inf-red detection works well- far better than motion detection, which on a windy day picks everything up, this system picks up an owl but not moths etc.

Power is provided via a lead attached to the ethernet cable- yes they are special leads, so care when purchasing.

The lead ends tend to be bulky with the sockets attached but with care and folding back one plug (taping) it will pass through 20mm holes.

This is an excellent piece of security equipment. It is easy to set up and install, and the video quality from the cameras is excellent. It gives me great peace of mind to be able to access the system remotely using my mobile phone and check for unusual activity, or see real time what is going on at my property. Highly recommended.

Good clear pictures easy to install

Really well specified product. Easy to install (assuming you have a ladder!) and once its set up its very simple to use.

The range of options and flexibility of recording features is great. For each camera, it can be set to record either permanently, motion triggered, or scheduled. One camera being triggered can instantly start recording for all or some of the other cameras. You can view the outputs on your mobile devices and the camera's image quality is really quite good. The night vision is surprisingly effective. I can clearly see my back garden on the screen at night, yet looking out the window its pitch black!

One word of warning - the cameras need to be on the outside of the house. If its behind glass, then the infra red light from the cameras will reflect back at the lens and blind the camera at night.

Its worth spending some time to tailor your record options to your own needs, as not all cameras need to be recording permanently all the time.

I like the fact this is not a monthly subscription. The video is stored on the hard drive, and if you are concerned it might get nicked, you can set the device to send snapshots of triggered events to your dropbox account. So ieven if the hard drive is lost, you should have a record of incidents. I have not tried this myself, but the manual explains the process.

Installed this Swann cctv kit in a few hours, excellent quality picture in daylight and night vision downloaded the app for my phone took about a minute set up on my phone picture quality is excellent have tried it miles away from home loads very quickly there is a slight time delay but no problem the app on my phone also casts to my Sony tv so I can view on my 65” tv all four members of my family have the app on our phones we all log on at different times when the house is empty it’s great piece of mind you can also playback recorded footage from the app I give this Swann kit 10 out of 10 for quality value and ease of use I strongly recommend to have for security

Simple to install, simple to set up and really first class visual coverage. I am very pleased indeed.

Have only installed 2 cameras at the moment but the picture quality is good had to turn up sensitivity a bit to get the system to activate at the distance I wanted so I do get lots of recordings, especially when spiders build cob webs over the cameras. Have not linked it to my mobile so can't comment on how that works. Found cameras easy to install getting up and running fairly easy some of the features take a bit of thinking about but over all I am pleased and not bad price for what you get.

It was so much better than my previous Swann cctv system so easy to install and very easy to use the on screen information camera is way better than the other cameras would definitely recommend this and also installed it on my phone and tablet again can control it on my phone would not buy any other product than swann
