ABUS GRANIT 37/60 Closed Shackle High Security Padlock

I haven’t had this long but it’s certainly sturdy!

Firstly, why this lock? I needed a lock for a new shed. I hadn't bought a lock in 30 years, so where to start! looking online I was struck by just how poor reviews were in general on padlocks and how easy they were to either break or pick. I discovered a You tube channel that gave me the encouragement to buy this particular lock, which is expensive let's face it.

There is an older version of this lock being advertised on the internet. The only visible difference is gold lettering rather than white on the body of the lock and sellers tend to mix up the photos with the actual manufactures code number. There is a difference in price too, which makes it difficult to compare between sellers.

The lock is very solidly built. It's weighty too. the keys operate smoothly, one has an LED light built, in similar fashion to a car key.

The only one small criticism I have is that the body is painted and where the top of the shackle rubs against the stainless steel hasp I am using it with it is starting to rub off, just an aesthetic thing but considering the price, perhaps anodising would have been a longer lasting finish !

I would certainly recommend this lock, it has a presence to deter would be thieves, as another reviewer somewhere on the internet wrote, when his shed was broken into this lock stood firm, they took the roof off instead.
