Hopefully our Scout 'Box Van' Trailer (used by four local Scout Groups) will be safe and secure at its new site. Over the last 10 years two have been stolen from other locations.

The post is robust and well made. The install instructions were clear and easy to follow, even by an ancient Scout Leader like me. We used a bag and a half of 'postcrete' with a gravel base as the post was installed in fairly soft ground.

Initially I struggled a little to padlock the post into its retaining box section but after a couple of tries - no problem.

We also like the idea of the hinged plate that covers the post hole when the post is not in position. A previous post model from another supplier didn't have this feature. It may deter some darling little Beaver filling the post hole with stones - the death of its predecessor, (the post not the Beaver!!!)

After a lot of research I finally decided on this unit, ordering was made easy, three interest free instalments but delivery was immediate. I have a block paved drive so I initially placed the caravan in the position I wanted it to be secured in, lifted the front end woth the jockey wheel and placed the post into the Alko tow ball head, then marked the drive with a pencil where the post needed to go. I then pushed the van back out of the way. I lifted 8 block paving blocks and started to dig. I bought a 10kg bucket of cement mix from Screwfix and when at the desired depth I Bernie the tube and mixed the cement and placed it it, back filled the hole with sharpe sand and replaced the 8 block pavers. To consider when purchasing this unit is if you use the Alko wheel lock, when you secure the van to the ball you cannot then get the wheel in the correct place to insert the lock, if you lift the van at the side to spin the wheel, it tilts the post which would loosen it in its cement, so it’s one of the other, I use the secure post and another type of wheel lock that just bolts on the wheel in whatever position, I would recommend this as I think it’s really a great built unit and a great visual deterrent

Great product. Easy to install and use. Safe. Co were the cheapest with free quick delivery. We have put it in front of garage, and attach our caravan to it. When away, it still provides security for car kept in garage. Would definitely recommend the hitch Post for added security.
