I fitted 7 of these locks to my new property. Although the burglar alarm is a deterrent I wanted top quality locks as a first line of defence. Hopefully, the kite mark is a further deterrent against intruders. Additionally for the two sets of French doors we chose the internal thumb turn for ease of use on warmer days.

These locks are packed with security features and are so easy to fit and the advice provided by Safe was clear and helpful. Finally, the key card provided for additional keys is a further additional security feature.

I fully recommend these locks. Take care in measuring your existing locks and you’ll have no problems and greatly enhanced security.

Bought as part of a keyed alike set. All are good quality and work smoothly. Provided you measure exact size needed they are easy fit and are flush with handle. Thumb turn works well

The Avocet locks are perfect for my needs, we have Keyed Alike and I had measured one the wrong way round, so sent the code to Safe and the right measurements and the lock and keys all the same as the previous arrived within a few days.

Ok, so this is a cylinder for changing the locks, as it were. I didn't know much about them until recently but now I realise how useful this is. My house has four doors and they are all eurocylinder sorts, which are very common on modern doors. Realising this, I now have all the doors using the same key which is really better because I can use a single key and use any door rather than having several.

The next thing I learned was that the difference is the length of the cylinder, measured from the centre to the ends as it has a fixing screw.

Changing them is trivial. Do it once and you'll know how from then on - easier than changing a plug fuse.

Security? Well, that's hard to say, really. Nobody has broken in so far and it seems I can't get local locksmiths to cut me a new key, which bodes well. There are features that you want, e.g. a breaking end so if someone twists the lock with a big lever it just breaks off rather than unlocking the door. A bunch of other things, e.g. anti pick, etc. Some of these have to be supported by the door, e.g. the pins and whatnot.

Not hugely cheap but not pricey either. I am well pleased, so far anyway.
