We started out looking for fire-resistant storage for documents, then realised that if it looked important, it ought to be locked down, then realised that if we had a safe, it might as well be big enough to keep valuables in, then decided that if we were putting all our eggs in one basket it should be as strong a basket as we could find. The Combiline 10E has third party certification on bith its fire rating and its theft resistance.

The safe is large enough to take A4 pages flat on the floor, and still leave room for other items on the shelf above. It has predrilled holes for floor bolts, but not for wall bolts - the locations are defined, but you have to drill through the outer skin yourself.

I could not lift it on my own, but with a trolley, and a basic block and tackle, I was able to move it into the house and install it on a wall on my own.

One unwelcome surprise that I had was that the front panel is steel plate, but faced with MDF, presumably to accomodate the different lock options. I managed to chip a lump out of the MDF because I assumed it was metal when I was trying to open the unlocked safe while it was on its back for drilling.
