How long are the batteries expected to last & do you get any warning in the event of battery failure?
Lee, Gravesend
This digital lock is mechanical rather than electronic and does not require batteries to operate. We do have a range of Digital Door Locks that are electronic and powered by batteries. Battery life would depend on how often you use it. Each lock will give a warning of low battery and there is a back up in case of lock out by either a key override or external battery point.
Unfortunately, none of the digital door locks conform with BS3621. You will need to use an insurance approved deadlock in order to meet BS3621 standard.
Are mechanical code locks suitable for installation in a UPVC external door.
Kathryn Davies, ferryside
Unfortunately attempting to install a mechanical lock to a UPVC door can be quite difficult and in most cases can cause damage. However if you are looking for a lock especially designed for a door with a multi-point locking system I can recommend the Keyfree Connected with Remote - Chrome (Satin Chrome).
How easy is it to change the combination on this lock? Can it be done without dismantling the lock? Also do you think that this lock would be suitable for a wooden garden gate? Thanks
Helen, Altrincham
Once installed you do need to remove the keypad from the door to change the PIN code. The unit itself is weather resistant and will be fine to use on a wooden gate.
Is this lock suitable for a staff toilet?
Is it lockable from the inside?
Moira, Canterbury
This type of lock is not suitable for use as a toilet door lock as the snib button is only designed to hold the latch open and will not lock it. Therefore, entry can always be gained from the outside by entering the code.
