I bought the Homeguard system to replace a previous wireless system that I had owned for 10 years, this system is so much more advanced, it was really easy to add devices to the system, those devices that came in the box were prepared and the additional devices were just a simple two step process. I bought an additional keyfob for our keyholder and the status of the system is easily accessible from the app, anywhere in the world that I have internet access. I love the fact that if I go out without arming the system, either I or my wife can arm the system remotely. Thoroughly recommended!!!

I think the product is good. My review is subjective and based on my direct experience of owning this alarm system for over a month now. I wanted something 'better than average', something that would be wifi as well as sim card supported, together with a good, functional app which works well. Any alarm system is only good if the app is good. I bought an Era Garrison alarm for my mum's house but the app for that is absolutely dreadful and painfully slow. I cannot understand why Era do not use the same good and functional app for all their alarm systems. Back to my Homeguard Pro system and more specifically its app. The system can be armed or disarmed from any location. If the alarm app is looked at for whatever reason, by other family members who have the app on their phones, I instantly receive a notification to say my account has been logged. We all have our own remote controls which you can assign and name on the app, so you can see who has armed or disarmed the alarm. You can set it to receive telephone calls and/or texts if the alarm is breached. The system took a while to set up, specifically the sim card and also pairing the siren to the system. To conclude, I am very happy with the Era Homeguard Pro and can recommend this as a good system with an excellent app.

In theory it's a good product but had various sensors batteries only lasting a couple of days and some sensors triggering alarm when it's not armed. ERA are replacing some of the sensors.

Excellent product. Easy to install and use.

It was very easy to setup. Easy to pair the PIRs to the hub, also the widow sensors and the siren.

We are delighted with it. It is so easy to use especially with the programme on my phone which tells me the state of the system. This programme is so easy to download, and use. It tells me when the system is armed and disarmed. It also tells me the accessories installed and here state which is very helpful. The hub was also very straightforward to set up and the written instructions were easy to follow.

Instructions are lacking but it is pretty simple to set up. Purchased this system for the ability to use a sim straight into the smart box as a wifi connection was not possible. Slight delay setting the system and unlocking but worked very well. Would purchase again.

I installed all the "bits and pieces" i.e. the hardware quite quickly but had major problems with the app. I have two devices, a Samsung mobile and a Samsung tablet, and on each one the app disconnected from the hub and I had to sign in with the password etc,. Therefore it wasn't a complete wifi system. After badgering the company a few times I was sent another App and to date this seems to work, even over mobile wifi systems. However, be aware that a wifi signal is constantly required in order to interact with the hub. We've just returned from a cruise, where there was an intermittent wifi signal and when we got home I had to reactivate the app by signing in again. So there are some disadvantage with the system.

Let's cut to the chase: now having had a couple of months' experience with this alarm would I buy it again?

Yes. Although I can suggest a few "improvements" too.

Installation of the main unit was easy enough. We put our unit away from prying eyes, in the under-stairs cupboard. Not the best of locations it turns out, as you can't hear the countdown/entry beeps when you set the alarm. Improvement #1 would be for the outdoor alarm unit to beep as well (quietly).

The magnetic, stick-on door sensors were easy to fit but caused me a bit of concern as the two parts were a considerable distance away from one another due to our uPVC frame. Not to worry, the tests I carried out proved that they were detected just fine.

The PIR I had a bit of trouble with, when pairing it with the main unit, as I pressed the obvious button on the front and the PIR was constantly triggering the alarm. Wrong button! One support telephone call later and I was directed to the almost invisible button on the back (with my eyes?) that paired the unit correctly. We've had no further issues with the PIR. Improvement #2 would be to make this more obvious in the instructions or even a sticker on the PIR.

We invariably use the key fobs to un/set the alarm, as we keep the front door key with it. However, it is far too easy to press the SOS button so we've disabled what could be a useful feature. Improvement #3 would be a redesign of the key fob with a sliding protective cover to stop the button(s) being inadvertently pressed - I know it can be done because I had one once.

Other than these fairly minor quibbles, the alarm has worked flawlessly, allowing me to see the status of the alarm on my phone (and set/unset it if required, which I have done on one occasion in the middle of a shopping centre as we had forgotten to set the alarm).

I like the logging of events - it allows me to see pretty quickly when/if we have set the alarm, which of us triggered the alarm by letting the dog out without unsetting it at 2am and so on. We also get individual emails whenever the alarm is triggered (a fairly rare occurrence), so all bases are covered.

We've still got the outdoor siren set to "quiet" mode as we didn't want to upset the neighbours during the settling in period; it's probably about time we changed that to the "loud" setting. I'm very pleased that it is all solar-powered with no batteries required.

Now all the excitement has died down, it just sits there doing its job very competently. I just wish the countdown beeps were either much louder or were replicated on the bell unit (very quietly).

A good quality alarm with plenty of additional sensors to plug in, if that is your wont. Yes, I'd buy it again.
