Is it possible to disable the lock when constantly going in and out, for example when bringing in bags of shopping?

This lock has a timer and re-lock option. After successfully unlocking, it will re-lock after a set period (between 5 to 120 seconds).

Can this be placed on an exterior front door? Will this survive against rain?

Can I set the lock to permanently be in passage mode when unlocked? I would like users to open it, and it remain open every time until they leave the premises and lock it manually with multi function button.

The lock allows you to disable the auto-relock feature meaning people can come and go when they please. This would then need re-activating when locking.

Is it possible to fit this to a metal gate/frame by, for example, mounting on a wooden panel or does the metal stop the bluetooth working? Is there an alternative model for metal gates?

This would not be suitable for mounting on a wooden panel on a metal gate. You may want to take a look at the Codelocks CL4510 Smart Lock (Stainless Steel) which would be more suitable.

I am installing into a glazed door with relatively thin stiles, how far from edge of door to start of facing plate and end of facing plate, both inside and out

From the edge of the door, to the edge of the lock externally is 160mm. From the edge of the door, to the edge of the lock internally is 20mm. All measurements can be found using the user guide.

There is a thumb turn on the inside, can a person lock themselves in? i.e. if a person has activated the thumb turn, can it still be released/unlocked from the outside And is this the Deadbolt 2S, or the latest Dead Bolt 2S Metal Grey, which has the home and back buttons instead of the hash and star?

Once the Thumb turn is engaged you can use the back up key to override the locking bolt at any time. As per our website this version would be the latest model.
