Pros: Very secure several attempts have been made to remove from door, metal clip twisted but always remians in place. Cons: Difficult to store keys when hung over a door, as they fall forward, there needs to be a magnetic strip at rear to hold the keys.

The J5 is a rugged, secure key safe. It's a bit of a door wart but it does what it is supposed to and the combination is easy to program.

I use the J5 on an external door. covered with a custom J5 rubber boot to keep out the weather. Unfortunately, the boot is not held fast or trapped when the lock is closed, so it can be peeled off but it won't fall off.

The over-the-door function works well but it's hard to imagine how it could be used at the full height of an outside door. (A ladder would be needed to climb up and enter the key code.:-))

I therefore attached the box to the lock stile on the door about halfway down just above the lock. It won't stay there unassisted so I screwed it to the inside of the door using the holes in the provided bracket.

The main gripe is that the internal key hooks really only take cylinder size (Yale). Lever lock keys have to be laid in at an angle. I was able to get two in.

The box is slightly expensive, but looks as though it it is built to last.

How many possible combinations does this have?
Anonymous
There are 1000 possible combinations that can be used for this item. You can use any of the 10 numbers available that you wish, but the same number cannot be used more than once. We recommend a code 4-5 digits in length. As with all of the push button key safes the code is non-sequential, meaning that the numbers you set as your code can be entered in any order to access the unit.

Does "Over The Door" mean literally over the top of the door, or can it go on the side of the door?
Anonymous
This Key Safe is designed to be placed on top of the door and is secured when the door is closed. Alternatively, there are fixing screws included if you want a permanent install.

Can the code be entered in any order? Can you use the same number more than once in your code?
John
The code on the J5 Key Safe can be entered in any sequence. This is called non-sequential and applies to all of our Push Button Key Safes. E.g. if you chose 1234 as your code this could be entered as 4321, 3241, 1432 or any other variation of 1234.

You can use as many or as few digits as you require but you cannot use a number more than once. We recommend choosing a code between 4-5 digits.
