I need a lock that my 92 year old father cannot lock from inside. Carers need access and he either leaves key in door inside or drops bolt, so carers cannot get in with spare key.

An ideal solution would be to have a 'Non-deadlocking' Nightlatch such as the Yale 91 - Standard Nightlatch (60mm). Because the lock cannot be deadlocked, entry can always be gained by the key.
To install this nightlatch you will need a hammer, a chisel and a drill and will need to follow the installation instructions that are provided closely. For more detailed information, please follow the steps outlined in our How to fit a Nightlatch video.
I have just fitted a 727 the problem is it will not deadlock from the outside as the key will only turn three quarters of the way round.

This lock is deadlocked from the outside by one full turn of the key. To do this you must ensure that the snib button on the inside has not been activated.
