I bought the Master Lock 5900 Portable Safe to securely keep my important docs i.e. passport, birth certificate, watch and jewellery in one place.

As its nice and compact, I've also been using it if I'm in the gym, in my car tucked away in boot, or if away on my holidays. The padded foam inside is great if your things are rattling around inside. I haven't really used the tether cable much, but its there when needed.

I like the code lock, easy to change code and the dials don't get stuck.

Overall this is a well made product, good size, very compact and I'm glad I purchased it.

My only drawback, is that its not completely waterproof.

I recently purchased the Master Lock 5900 portable safe from safe.com. The order was placed as an last minute urgent purchase prior to a charity project trip to Tanzania to work in a local orphanage (www.kidzcaretanzania.org). Despite my late order, the supplier ensured I received my order on time, so full marks to Safe.com for customer care. As we would be remote and would need to carry cash for project use we chose the 5900 portable safe. On receipt it did seem a little tight on storage capacity however, in the field it proved ideal. It could carry enough cash for project needs (only just) but more importantly it was easily concealed and the security cable allowed it to be secreted away and secured to a roof truss. It was my intention to leave it behind when I left but I liked it so much I brought it back with me. We will without a doubt buy more for our 2018 project. Bob Thompson, Outreach Africa.

a great product all round

Genuinely awful product which doesn't get the job done. Look this safe up on YouTube and have a look at the "lock picking lawyers" video on this. He has a video where this gets opened without ANY TOOLS at all. You can see through the chamber and open it yourself in under a minute, complete joke.

This is a nice little inconvenience for a would-be burglar, but don't expect it to be a massive barrier that will require a blow torch or buzzsaw to get through. Still, that's not its intended purpose - I use mine to put the keys to the mountain bike locks in, which just makes it more inconvenient for a little terrier to nick the mountain bike (if they just take the safe with them the contents ain't much use to them). Build quality could be better - on mine one of the dials moves without any friction whatsoever, which makes me nervous that it's always going to line up correctly. So far though it works fine ;)
