What will happen if the batteries go flat? How will we open the safe.
Graham Millwa, Southampton
The battery compartment can be located on the outside of the safe under the keypad. The safe will retain the code when the new batteries are inserted.

Does this safe need to be open periodically to avoid moisture damage to paperwork. If so, is there a model that doesn?t.
Darren, Chelmsford
It is a good idea to to air a fire safe now and again and adding a few desiccant bags to absorb moisture can also be useful.

What is the reason that it is described as not suitable for tapes.
Graham Ruddock
Fire safes designed to protect tapes can withstand a far higher temperature than safes designed for paper and digital media. To store tapes take a look at our fireproof safes for tapes and film

Does this model have a drawer for small items?
Lee Cook, London
No the Masterlock LFW123FTC does not have a built in drawer. However I can recommend the product SAF-FSHL which does.

Is this safe still water resistant once bolted to the floor? Also, it says it's water resistant for 8 inches of water but would it still work if fully submerged?
Samad, London
Unfortunately once installed to the floor you would lose some of the water resistance features because of the fixing holes. The unit has only been tested for up 8 inches of water and would not be waterproof if fully submerged.

As this safe is only waterproof up to 8inches due to the electronics. Is there a version of this with a key lock or non digital lock that would be waterproof?
Samad, London
The water resistance of this unit is based on the pressure the seals around the door can withstand. You may wish to consider a product such as the Master Lock LFHW40102 Jumbo Fire Chest if you require a product that can be fully submerged.
