If the safe is subjected to a significant fire, would this damage the keypad? If so, how would you open the safe when you need both the keypad and barrel key to unlock. Is there an after fire procedure to unlock?
David, Manchester
The keypad includes some plastic and rubber components that would be damaged in the fire. The safe would need to be broken in to in order to retrieve the contents. Master Lock will then replace your damaged safe for a brand new one under the warranty.

It states this safe is not suitable for tapes or film, and for digital media only. Would it still be suitable for keeping paper safe in a fire?
Afraz
Yes, paper has a much higher temperature tolerance than tapes, film and digital media. This safe would provide the full 120 minutes fire protection for any paper documents.

What happens when the batteries come to be completely discharged and the door is locked? How do you get the door open?
keith, York
In the event that the batteries run out of power the safe will indeed lock down, however the batteries on this unit are changed on the outside by removing the keypad. Once the batteries have been replaced the safe can be unlocked using the code that you have set previously as normal.

Can the mechanical lock be used instead of the keypad, or do both have to be used to unlock the safe?
AA
This is a Dual Lock safe using both an electronic keypad and a key lock to access the unit. The safe cannot be accessed without the key and electronic combination being used.

Does this safe have wall fixing holes? I do not have concrete floors and would need to secure it to a wall.
Anonymous
This safe does not have pre-drilled holes in the back of the unit to allow wall fixing. This is due to the fire rating the safe has. Any safe with 60 mins fire protection or more is floor fix only. We do offer a range of 30 Minute Fire Protected Safes that would allow a wall fix should you wish to consider these.
