I have had a Swann CCTV system before and it lasted 6 years. I went for Swann again because, although I don’t really 6 years is that long, it is domestic and the memory was big, the camera quality was good.

These HD cameras state 30m in the dark. I’d challenge a meter. There was no night vision whatsoever. Pitch black.

Now the system has shut down altogether and I need to contact Safe to find out what can be done. It was only installed in May, it’s now mid August.

I’ve researched and it turns out that the mains, AC cable will often fail on these systems.

Swann DVR-4980 4 Channel 5 Megapixel - 4 Camera True Detect CCTV Kit, what a disappointment !!! Advertised as 5 megapixel, in reality the picture is no different from any budget cameras you may find half the price. Cameras are nice and sturdy, easy to install physically, when it comes to software, however, absolutely not fit for purpose. It gives the felling that it hasn't been finished. Ive got these cameras form several months and they haven't recorded ANYTHING. Its true, the installation was in-house, although all the instructions were followed as described haven't achieved anything rather than having live feed on my mobile. Quality of the picture is poor day and night to the point where it is impossible to distinguish faces or read number plates at no more than 7-8 meters.

Totally disappointed.

Once set up and ap on phone easy to monitor when working away. I find I'm constantly watching my pond fish to relax.

Only gripe make sure the screws that stop the camera rotating are secure otherwise camera can slip out of housing.. came close. Like the way you can set up dead zones so camera doesn't record and a red zone for alerts. Using it with a hdmi spliter on my PC so easy a ces to watch. Already caught someone who let their dog do a number 2. Printed photo out and confronted him. Now he avoids my side of the road when walking his dog. Love this system.

Excellent system. its the first system that I have fitted at my home and would definitely recommend it to others. I fitted the system shortly before we went on holiday and it reassured us that our property was safe whilst we were away as we could view it on the mobile app.

There was a car crime in the area near our home recently which our system caught on the cameras and the police called and viewed footage to use as evidence which reassured of the quality for a very reasonable price.

The product is good value for money and works well. We have 4 cameras at strategic points around the outside of the house. Resolution is good. I use an all-in-one computer and had to resurrect a redundant monitor for the system to work. (I was told that it would not work with an all-in-one computer). All in all a good purchase and am happy with it with the one exception - it would be good to have a printed manual with the system.
