How many hours of footage can be held on the hard drive?
Does the system automatically delete the old recordings?
Kam Jittlar, Maidenhead
With this 1TB system if all four cameras recorded continuously for 24 hours a day you would have 5 days of footage before the DVR would begin to delete previous unsaved recordings. If using motion detection and based on an average of 4 hours recording per day, per camera, you should expect approx. 33 days footage before automatic deletion begins.
I'm looking at installing the cameras in a few different types of location. How does the cable come out of the camera? Is it out of the base/bracket or out of the back of the camera?
Jamie, Ashford
The BNC cable connects directly to the back of the camera.
Is this system truly plug and play or do I need to spend considerable time setting up the DVR?
Andrew, Stranraer
Once the system has been installed you would have to spend a little time customising your preferred settings however once this is done, the system is very quick and easy to operate.
We're planning to use this product as home security. Will the cables from the cameras come through the walls to reach the DVR? I'm not sure we could get the DVR close enough and also be attached to our awkward router.
Rebecca, Leeds
The BNC camera cables would run through the wall and would need to be connected to the DVR system. The BNC cables do have male and female connectors so you can buy additional BNC cables to extend the range if needed.
Do the cameras have a power on light to show they are running? What is the best cable type to get a picture?
Phil, Dunfermline
The True Detect cameras display a light to indicate a power source and the each camera comes with a BNC cable, which connects to the DVR box to record footage.
I currently have a Swann SRDVR-44400T system which has seemingly died on me. Can I replace with this new system using the existing camera cables as they were installed when our building work was done and don’t want disruption of replacing camera cables
Michael Rogers, Leatherhead
As they use BNC cables your existing wires will be fine to use.

The user access would need to be changed on the DVR by connecting this to a monitor and accessing the user settings and then changing the appropriate users access.
