This was an upgrade to my previous Swann CCTV system so installation was simple. The picture quality both day and night is excellent, the review and search using multiple views is a great feature. Great piece of kit for security and peace of mind.

Was excited to receive my replacement Swann cctv system. Very easy to set up and very easy to navigate.

Here is the big one!

One of the cameras packed up by going into black and white mode and has not been working since. I contacted the useless customer support and I'm still waiting nearly 4 months on. Absolutely useless customer support!

A replacement camera is not cheap!

Then we have the DVR 4890 box itself.

Don't purchase it.

I've had nothing but trouble ever since I plugged it in. Yes it runs ok but it does not record movement of human beings even on the highest setting. Everytime it reboots for its maintenance ALL THE PIR SETTINGS ARE LOST on all the cameras. Apparently this is a ongoing issue with this model.

So to summarise...

Easy to set up.

Fails to record even though camera is mounted approximately 6 feet high on a wall and the person is approximately 6 feet from camera.

Box looses its settings on reboot.

Customer service is absolutely useless.

Then we have the recent software update!

DON'T UPDATE IT

Would I recommend it? NO!

Purchase the Swann 4890 at your peril. I strongly suggest doing a product review on all Swann CCTV products.

Waste of money!

Good price and delivered in time. Working fabtasric

Fairly straight forward to install, only a few months down line but all is working as it should, I have had CCTV for over ten years but this is a much better more up to date DVR. The only problem was explaining to the sales person exactly what I wanted as he was fixated on selling me a package. For my main driveway camera I have a stand alone infra red this is because the infra red on the camera does not give a clear enough picture. Camera quality is excellent, and being able to adjust all the colours is great. Also blank areas for alerts is very good.

Excellent product. The 5mp cameras provide very clear images. There is very little noise from the dvr and the instruction leaflets are very easy to follow.

The cable connections are robust and long enough without extending. Makes for a neat installation. There was a software update shortly after installing which meant reconfiguring our settings after the update, so make a note of settings as you do the installation. This was slightly frustrating but only took 20 minutes to do. The cameras are small and neat, I like the red glow emitted at night, which should alert anyone wishing to enter the perimeter for the wrong reasons to think again.

So far so good. Just installed. Have invited friends to come around to see and experience it for themselves. Hope to convince them to purchase and have an installation as well.

All in all hopefully a very good purchase the will provide us with a piece of mind irrespective of where we're and which corner we are in the world.

I 'all give it 6 months and if the result and satisfaction remains the same or better I'll definitely get colleagues to get one installed.

Probably with hindsight I should have purchased to more dom cameras to be installed indoors. However there's time yet.
