The Swann DVR-5580 8 Channel Ultra HD 4K - 4 Camera True Detect CCTV Kit with multi channel playback includes four weather resistant cameras rated to IP67 with enhanced infrared LED night vision providing a range of up to 30m. The system also includes a 2TB hard drive and has eight channels allowing for an additional four cameras to be added if required.

The PRO-4KMSB cameras can be set to record continuously, at a set time or only when motion or heat is detected, providing more reliable notifications and recordings and making it much easier to view important footage, while at the same saving on hard disk space. The Swann DVR8-5580 provides crystal clear ultra HD 4K resolution recording and playback via your TV, SmartPhone or Tablet using the SwannView Link App* (available for iOS and Android).

I've been experimenting with CCTV for a while and following a bad experience with some cheap nameless brand I started to look for a setup that I could view remotely and be confident of the quality of the capture. I picked up 2 Nest IQs and tried them for a couple of weeks. The quality of the picture was not great and zooming in was a waste of time. If I was going to the effort of having cameras it made sense to have a decent picture. Picked these up for about the price of the 2 other ones and got twice as many cameras without an ongoing subscription.

The setup is simple, pretty much plug and play. The quality of the picture is brilliant in daylight and not too shabby when the lights go out either.

The single star lost was for the app on which you can remotely view the cameras. Bit of a faff to get going, still not receiving push alerts, but not a major problem. If it were I should go and RTFM.

Remote viewing works fine using the PC app too.

I'd certainly buy these again and with 4 channels left I may well invest in a few extra cameras. Great job by Swann.

This is a brilliant system, easy to set up, picture quality is amazing especially if you are viewing on a 4K t.v. or monitor, and very good value for money.

I did have a camera go over exposed on night vision, I contacted safe and the lady on the phone was very helpful and tried to sort it for me whilst I was on the phone but had no luck , she gave me swans number and I contacted them and they arranged a phone call at a time that suited me, and called me back.

I altered a setting whilst I was on the phone to them and that seems to have sorted the problem.

I was so pleased with the alround service, I told my brother and he saw the picture quality, he has now got the same system.

Fantastic service and product. The camera footage is absolutely beautiful. The only issue is the Swann app itself the footage the app could be better but I have contacted Swann about that.

The DVR-5580 has been a great upgrade to my previous Swann system. Not only is it now high resolution that allows much better identification, both day and night, especially at night. The IR capability is great.

It is a very easy system to set up with the various masking capabilities and sensitivity settings in areas that are tricky to cover. The single power supply to four cameras is a great advantage as this minimise the sockets that are required in the installation.

The monitoring from either a local screen or via the internet on a multitude of devices is a major asset together with whatever alert system you wish to use. Overall a great system to give you added monitored security of your home or small business.

I am really happy with this product and would recommend it. I would consider myself a reasonably competent DIYer, and I had no problems installing the 4 cameras on each corner of the house and running the cables through the loft back to the box on the ground floor, plenty of length in the supplied cables to cover my 4 bed detached property. The set up instructions are reasonably simple to follow, but I would advise you definitely do read them first to get a full understanding of what the system can do. The picture quality is really good, even at night, and the ability to open an app on my phone to view the live feed from the 4 cameras is really useful.

Standard CCTV Installation

We offer professional installation on our complete range of CCTV systems, from wired to completely wire free kits, for the home or business.

Our experienced engineer will complete a brief site inspection and then discuss their findings with you to agree equipment positioning and camera viewing angles before commencing the installation of your CCTV Kit, including DVR/NVR recording device, cameras and cables.

Your installation will include alignment of cameras in positions to provide suitable viewing angles in monitored areas, however final camera positions will be governed by safe site access, the type of camera selected, video cable lengths purchased and the available cable routing options at your property.

Each wired camera will include a cable (usually 18m in length). Extra cable is available with all our kits and it is important that if additional cable is required you add this to your purchase during the check-out process. Please note, any extra cable purchased in addition to your standard kit will generally incur an additional installation charge.

Surface mount installation of camera cables between the individual cameras and the DVR/NVR will require the drilling of entry holes (approx. 20mm per cable). Cable wall entry holes will be properly sealed against the elements using silicon sealant and appropriate internal / external weather covers (as required).

You must ensure that adequate power sockets are made available near the DVR/NVR recorder, as the recorder, TV/Monitor and each pair of cameras may each need a power socket.

The engineer will set up remote viewing on one device and then carry out a final assessment of camera views to confirm that your new system is fully operational before providing a brief demonstration of your system and to confirm it has been completed to your satisfaction.

Non-standard CCTV Installation

In some cases, it may be necessary to install additional materials or provide extra resources (manpower) to facilitate the CCTV system installation in a safe manner.

If additional costs are likely these will be discussed with you prior to installation. Reasons for extra costs might include:

  • Large commercial buildings such as warehouses and office blocks.
  • Additional or extended video cabling.
  • Bespoke camera mounting materials.
  • Cable containment such as trunking, ducting and conduit.
  • Additional equipment (excludes pre-supplied kit and materials such as clips, tape and sealant).
  • Specialised access equipment and permits such as hoists, lifts and cranes.
  • Outside of normal hours working (Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm).
  • 4x4 Vehicular access requirements to remote rural sites.
  • Specialised equipment such as larger brackets, battens, base boards etc...
  • Road closure including necessary permits.
  • Additional manpower to overcome technical, lifting or safety access issues.

We offer installation throughout the UK mainland, however some more remote and rural post codes in the Highlands are subject to a surcharge to cover additional fuel and traveling time costs.

Warranty Terms & Conditions

Our installer provides a standard 12 month warranty on all new system installations and a 3 month warranty on all materials provided during maintenance visits.

Note: Existing system components and pre-supplied equipment such as cameras, cables, recording devices and power supply units are not included in the installation warranty as these elements are covered by the Manufacturer warranty.

We reserve the right to undertake an ‘Assessment Call’ without prejudice to investigate any complaints relating to materials failure or poor workmanship to assess if the complaint is valid. Please note that remedial service calls generated by elements outside of our sphere of influence or due to different fault conditions will be chargeable to you at an agreed call out charge.

In scenarios where you request a post installation service call and our assessment identifies the fault condition or cause of the fault falls outside of the limitations of the standard installation warranty (Force Majeure, different fault etc) a call out charge will be incurred for the visit.

Assessment calls raised for reasons outside our sphere of influence or responsibility and not covered by the standard installation will incur a call out charge for labour and additional materials.

The following are examples of when a call out charge would be incurred:

  • Accidental Damage
    The CCTV Camera is knocked off alignment by high winds or moving objects such as ladders, footballs or people.
  • Malicious Damage
    The CCTV Camera or system has been physically damaged by vandals or DIY.
  • Materials Failure
    Previously Installed equipment (existing) or equipment included in the pre-purchased kit are deemed to be at fault. Faulty equipment such as DVR/NVR, cameras, cables and power supply units are covered by the manufacturer warranty.
  • System Modification
    A request that the installed system be modified such as cameras realigned or repositioned post installation.
  • Incorrect Diagnosis
    The customers web portal, broadband connectivity or Mobile App are identified as being at fault or incorrectly operated by the user when trying to view the desired CCTV images. This includes user error and any form of software / firmware upgrades post installation.

Also what is the purpose of 4 Audio-In ports? Cameras do not have microphones in. Can external microphone be add in, and do you sell them?

I have a old 720p cameras and an analog set up box. I want to upgrade the cameras to 4K and the set up box. Can I use the existing cables as I can't get to the cables to replace them.

The cameras are connected to the DVR via dual power and video BNC cables. Providing your current set up includes the same type of BNC cables, you should be able to connect the new cameras and DVR using your existing cables.

Can all of the 8 channels simultaneously record 4K? The older Swann boxes were limited to only 2 channels at 4K.

I have seen the swan CCTV with 2TB hard drive can this be changed to either a 4TB or 6TB hard drive.

The system can support up to 4TB however we do not supply larger capacity DVR's. Changing the hard drive would effect the manufacturers warranty.
