Union 2648 - Tubular Latch (64mm, Polished Brass)

I replaced the latch because the spring in the old latch no longer supported the door handles which were drooping.

However, after fitting the new latch there was no improvement and the spring was not strong enough to do the job. It turned out to be a waste of money on this occasion.

I had several similar mortice latches from screw fix about 3years ago

One felt a bit notchey so I removed it to inspect,I found the internals had disintegrated so I decided to change them all

Looking online for good quality replacements i decided on the Union latch from safe

Unfortunately when they were delivered they were not made of the same internals as described and photographed on the web site,they were poor quality and overpriced.

No,I am not able to give a good 👎review, the service seemed ok but in the end I have ended up with mortice locks that i am not happy with

Nice product - actually fits the door cutouts properly as it is a tubular body rather than the folded sheet ones of the cheaper units. Jury is out on whether the plastic latch is actually quieter than the alternatives, but it certainly isn't any noisier. Remains to be seen how long it lasts but build quality looks good so far. Now to decide if I'll replace all the others old ones in the house before they fail.... Do they do a trade pack of 10 for a lower price?

Product quality is very good and ease of fitting was simple. We've now had it in the door for a couple of months and it is a very smooth and slick mechanism.
