We received the Union tubular latch quicker than the stated delivery. I hadn't realised that it had a resin latch bolt and was a little dubious. However, on fitting the latch we were amazed at how quiet closing the door now was and how smooth the latch was in operation. Not only that, I had previously bought a DIY own brand latch which didn't fit the existing rebate and the bolt got stuck in it's casing. The Union latch fitted exactly, with only minor adjustment needed to fit the new strike plate. Up until this house, we have always been lucky enough to have Union latches and have never before had to replace one. This is a 5 year old new build and is fitted with cheap, poorly finished latches. As others break, as they surely will, we will definitely be fitting Union 2648 latches.
