Does the latch mechanism for the Union 3K74E 5 lever sashlock have a strong Spring to operate lever handle furniture ?

The lock is sprung and deigned for use with un-sprung bolt through lever handles.

I am replacing a Chubb 7 lever front door lock, same size as this lock. The bolt projection from the current lock is 14mm, but the recess in the door jamb part of the lock is 22mm. So would this 3K74E be OK as a replacement?

This lock has a 20mm bolt projection so you should be absolutely fine with your existing 22mm recess.
