Can this be configured to be unlocked by generic, NFC capable equipment such as phones etc.
Tom, Wellingborough
Unfortunately The Yale Keyfree is not NFC compatable. However I would recommend looking at the Yale Conexis L1 Smart Lock while this is also not NFC compatable it does have Bluetooth conectivity.

Please can you tell me if this lock will lock itself if the occupants forget to lock it?
David, Chesterfield
Once the door is shut it would only latch the door in place, however as with all multi point locking systems you would have to lift the handle up to securely lock the door.

Could you tell me if your Yale Keyfree Connected Remote or with Z-wave can be fitted to a new aluminium door?
Trudi, Clevedon
Providing the door is within the thickness parameters of 44mm-70mm and has a multi-point locking system, then the Keyfree lock should be compatible.

I have an Era Vectis Multipoint lock on my door (Timber) and it has a mortice key not Euro cylinder. Do I need to change my Multipoint lock to use this system?
Thanks
steve, sussex
The multipoint lock must have the facility to accept the Euro profile cylinder which comes with the Yale Keyfree. You will need to change your lock in order to have the Keyfree installed.

Our lock no longer tells us the door is securely locked, it locks it but just does not confirm anymore.
chris manns, Staines
This generally indicates your batteries are running flat. If you replace them this should solve your problem.

When supplying insurance companies details of this lock what can I say?
Anonymous
The Yale Keyfree is 'Secured by Design' which means that it is tested to police approved standards, making it insurance approved. Simply let your insurance company know that you have the Yale Keyfree. You may require your proof of purchase which we will send to you in the form of a VAT invoice receipt.

Is there a button on the inside of the door handle that I have to press before being able to lower the handle? I ask because this is what I saw on a demo model in-store, yet the Yale website's manual makes no mention of it, and your own pictures do not show this. Is this an updated model that does not have that requirement?
Anonymous
The internal handle does have a button on the inside of the handle that must be pressed in order to lower the handle. This is a relatively new feature that was added to stop people from fishing through the letterbox to open the door.

Can the keyfree lock be locked from the inside, so it cant be opened from the outside?
Anonymous
The door is locked on the inside when the handle is lifted but there is no way to disable access to anybody who has the correct code or the override key. The code can easily be reprogrammed and the cylinder can be changed if security is compromised.

If I order this today can you confirm the process regards the site survey and when I would expect it to be installed? Thanks
Bernard , Oxford
Once we receive your order we’ll send the lock directly to you within 3 working days. You will also receive a call from a Yale Security Point Installer who will arrange a suitable date for the site survey/installation. From ordering to installation the whole process should take no longer than 7 working days.

The site survey and installation are done at the same time. If your door lock mechanism is one of the few uPVC or Composite doors that are not compatible we will issue a full refund.

Do I have to replace the existing multipoint mechanism? It is not a Yale.
Anonymous
There is no need to replace your existing multipoint locking mechanism. The Yale Keyfree lock is designed to work with virtually all existing multipoint locks regardless of manufacturer. However, Yale are aware there are a vast number of multipoint locks available and say the Keyfree will work with 95% of all current models.

On the day of installation if it is found the lock is not suitable you will be offered a full refund.

I'm in a rented property. How destructive is installation in a PVC door & is it possible to revert to the original standard multipoint lock later?
Stuart Fagg, Hampton
The Keyfree lock requires professional installation and slight modifications to the door. Yale's new lock, the Yale Conexis L1 Smart lock would be better suited as only a DIY install is required and can be reverted back to the original system you had when you leave the property.

Can the installation be done at a weekend? If it is just on weekdays does the installer provide a specific time for installation and how long does installation take?
Paul May, Bromley
Installations are carried out on weekdays as standard. The engineer installing the unit will call you in advance to arrange a suitable date and time to attend site. Installation takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Could this be used with GRP (Glass reinforced plastic) composite door?
Ng, Watford
Yes, the Keyfree with Z-Wave Module - Chrome (Polished Chrome) should be suitable to use on a composite door as long as the door has a multipoint locking system in place.

Can a Z-wave controller be used to add/delete PINs on the device? Or does it only support unlocking / status via Z-Wave?
Anonymous
The programming of new codes can only be done on the lock itself. The Z-wave programme will allow you to lock or unlock remotely by using a z-wave home system.

Can I use z-wave and remote fobs for the same lock? It seems strange to not include key fobs with the the z-wave model.
Matt, Oxford
I am afraid not. The Yale Keyfree has a module that is fitted behind the battery cover. It is this module that determines whether the lock is operated by a remote fob or a Z-Wave app. You can purchase different modules and change them yourself but they can never work together.
