Do I need to buy anything else to go with this lock or is it complete i.e. a mortice lock
Debbie
The Keyless digital lock is designed to operate a nightlatch, so for this particular product you do have all the components you require. You could also fit a separate Mortice lock to the door for added security, but this would operate separately to the Keyless lock.

I have just fitted this lock, can I add the smart lock Key Tag Twin pack or cards to this lock? As I dont think it is a connected type lock.
Ray, Reading
This version is keypad operated only, the key tags or cards are compatible for use with the product product product YL-YD-01-CON-NOMOD-CH.

I have a standard glazed front door with a night latch and a separate mortice lock. I can see this would replace my night latch - but is there a way I can get a key less lock to replace a mortice lock as I want two locks on the door and typically most mechanical locks have small deadbolts which wont fill the space left by the 2.5 in mortice.
Simon, Brighton
This particular lock will indeed operate a night latch only. I would recommend looking at the product COD-CL425-SS for a coded mortice lock. Please note that you should check that your door thickness is suitable to accommodate both these types of locks.

A previous question asks how you change the code on the lock to which they were told to look at the instructions on page 9 which show you how to change the code in 6 easy steps. The steps seem to just say that you press a button and enter your desired code. Do you need to enter the existing code in order to change it? Could someone not just change your code in order to gain entry to your property unlawfully?
Anonymous
The button used to begin the process of changing your code is in the battery compartment on the inside of the door. The original code is not required to change the code but someone would need to be inside your property to access the battery compartment.

Is this compatible with Keyfobs?
James, Todmorden
Unfortunately the keyfobs are not compatible with this model. I would consider the Yale Keyless Connected Ready - Chrome which can be operated with the Yale Smart Lock Remote Keyfob.

Does the lock come with a receiver or door plate? Or what is required in/on the door frame for the lock to function?
Mike, Lancaster
This lock is supplied with a plate for the lock to be fitted to the door. The keep supplied with the lock should be fitted to the door frame for the lock to function.

What is a night latch for? Do I need one with the Yale Keyless Digital Lock?
Debbie
The Keyless Digital lock is designed to operate a night latch so you will need one, in this version the Yale Y3 Nightlatch is included. The purpose of a night latch is to hold the door closed and locked using the latch when the door is shut. The latch is then withdrawn into the casing when you enter your access code and turn the knob thus allowing you to open the door.

Are these easy to fit by your average handyman. Do I have to remove the old night latch system?
Anonymous
The lock is simple to install and supplied with installation instructions. We would recommend to remove the night latch as the lock comes with one.

We are thinking of using this lock on our block's entrance door. Is there any way of leaving the door unlocked during the day for the postman and deliveries?
Celeb, London
This lock has a code free access option via a latch holdback feature which would allow people to access the building without entering a code, this feature can then be disabled and the lock would engage requiring the correct code being entered to unlock it.

Can you purchase this with the satin finish?
Can it be fitted to a double (oak) door 45mm thick?
Robert, Ditchling
The Keyless Digital Lock Satin Nickel (Satin Nickel) would be most suitable, but this does not include the Y3 Nightlatch. You would need to order Yale Y3 - Standard Nightlatch (60mm) as a separate item, but the Nightlatch is not availbale in a satin finish. This can be fitted to doors between 35mm-65mm in thickness so your 45mm door should be fine.

Can the door be locked from the inside with the night latch?
Adam, London
The door can be locked from the inside using the snib button on the Y3 nightlatch. However, this can be overridden by entering the correct code on the keypad on the external side.

My door has a narrow inside frame (68 mm width) to attach the battery compartment and night latch to. Will they fit?
Paul, High Wycombe
The front part of the lock would just about fit but there would be a problem with the Y3 nightlatch which is 93mm deep and therefore too large for the space that you have. You may have to look at our range of mechanical digital door locks along with a 50mm latch which can be purchased as an option.
