Is there a type of push button lock suitable for use with an internal sliding door?
Pete, Leicester
Sliding doors require a hookbolt in order to lock correctly. We would recommend the Lockey 2500 - Sliding Door lock, which is perfect for that application.

How do you set the code?
Barry, York
The code can be changed by swapping around the red and blue tumblers on the inside of the exterior code pad. Enter the red tumblers into the numbers that you wish to incorporate into your code. See the detailed Yale Push Button User Guide for step by step instructions.

Does this lock have a fire rating. Can it be used on a fire door?
Graham Cooper, Droitwich
The lock does not have a fire rating. You could purchase the Codelocks CL255 (Stainless Steel) with an intumescent fire kit, which can be purchased in the list of accessories. The combination of lock and fire kit would be suitable for fire doors.

The Yale Push Button Door Lock is not insurance approved. You will need to use an insurance approved deadlock in conjunction with this push button lock to comply with the BS3621 standard.

I've kept to the instructions and when replacing the handing pin plate, the pin sticks up, the plate is not sitting flat and screws wont align up.
simon, chatham
When replacing the tumblers, to set your own code, there are some important steps that you must take. Do not leave any tumbler position empty. Before changing codes, the "C" button must be depressed and held in the down position throughout the code changing procedure and the red and blue tumblers must be the correct way up as per the user guide.

We have an old one of these in one of our properties (we are a property company) and the door has shut and locked. Nobody knows the combination to it - how can we get it open again without the combination?
VJ, Chelmsford
The only way to gain access is by entering the code. There is no override code that can bypass the code that has been set. This is a security benefit for this type of product and is designed to deter personnel from entering who do not know the code.

How can I confirm this lock will be able to replace the existing one in the room? Which measurements do I need to take to ensure they are compatible?
Michael Kardamakis, London
This lock is operated by a latch that has a 60mm backset (The measurement from the edge of the door to the centre of the handle). Check the backset measurement on your door to see if this will work.

Another important factor is, this lock is suitable for doors where the thickness is between 35mm - 50mm.

Does this have a nightlatch feature so that someone inside can leave it unlocked?
Anonymous
This lock does include a latch holdback feature. Although not visible on the image, behind the handle there is a switch that allows you to hold the latch in place to that the door can be opened without the PIN code.

Is there an adaptor available to convert the flat spindle rod supplied with the Yale ‘P-DL02-SC’ to enable it to operate a latch which has a fitting made for a square section spindle?
Phil, Bristol
Unfortunately not. The vast majority of mechanical digital door locks operate with a flat spindle but do come supplied with a compatible latch.
