When the alarm is triggered and you are not home, can you switch the siren off via the Yale app?
Michael Faasen, LONDON
You can access all of the alarm settings and features via the Yale Smart Home Alarm App (available for iOS 9.0 and above or Android 4.2 and above). The system can be activated and deactivated using your SmartPhone.
I have just bought this item from you and having some issues with false alarms, i'll like to do some troubleshooting myself is there a way of turning off the siren so not to disturb the neighbours?
Aaron Smith, Folkestone
The siren can be deactivated in the learn mode setting which can be accessed via the Yale App.
Can you swap out the motion sensors for pet friendly sensors? Would the normal sensors be ok for a cat?
Matthew Shephard, Kent
The sensors supplied as part of the system are not pet friendly so an animal would trigger the alarm if detected. Pet friendly sensors are available to purchase as an option.
Which of your alarms are approved by insurance companies please. And are they rated by them in any way?
Lynn George, Berkhamsted
All our alarm systems are classed as self monitored and self installed alarms, however this does not make them any less reliable than a insurance approved system and you have the comfort of knowing there is no monthly subscriptions.
What?s the difference between this Yale Sync alarm and the other Yale SR series smart alarm? I can't seem to find anything obvious and would like to know which system to get.
Jamie Bourke, Pontefract
The Sync is the latest model by Yale, it has an extended 200 metre wireless range and is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Philips Hue.
If internet connection is lost or interrupted can the alarm siren still be activated via the pir sensors?
J, Birmingham
If the internet connection is lost, the alarm will still activate and the siren sound as normal. However you will not be notified until an internet connection is re-established.
Could you tell me the main differences between the Yale Smart and Yale Sync products.
Kevin, Shaftsbury
The main differences are:-
The SR-320 has a 30 meter wireless range and you can add up to 20 components to the system.
The IA-320 has a 200 meter range and you can add up to 40 different components. You can also link the IA systems to Alexa.
Does the Yale Sync alarm system support IFTTT?? We are looking for something that could turn our security cameras off when the alarm is deactivated.
Pete, Guildford
Unfortunately this model does not support IFTTT at present. However I can recommend the ERA HomeGuard Smart Alarm Pro - Junior Kit, which is compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant and Light Wave.
Are notifications that the alarm has been triggered only received by email? Or can we receive notification by a phone call/text message as well?
Farah, walsall
You can choose how you wish to be alerted. Options include e-mail alerts or text alerts, as well as push notifications via the app. To manage your notification settings go in the Yale Home App menu, select “Settings” > “Users”>”Notification Settings”.
What is the likelihood that within the foreseeable future your free access to your server will become a subscription service. Are there any guarantees that it will not be say within 10 years of purchasing your system or some other time frame. I understand that it is possible for your server to go down from time to time but that is not the issue.
Peter, Eastleigh
These systems are all self monitored and are not connected to any third party, so for Yale to add a subscription service to these systems would be extremely unlikely.
Where does the keyfob have to touch to disarm the alarm?
Also we have a lot of wifi issues with home automation, if there is an issue with the alarm is there a way of connecting a secondary hub?
Lloyd, Kidderminster
The key fob has buttons that can be used to arm, disarm or emergency trigger your alarm system from up to 200m away from the control panel. There is no secondary hub option, but you could consider the ERA HomeGuard Smart Alarm Pro - Premium Kit as it has the ability to send a text via a sim card instead of wifi if needed.
Does the Yale Sync Smart Home Alarm have a door "chime" feature that will let me know when the entry door is being opened for a delivery as an example ?
Jeff Shipton, Huntingdon
The system can be set to alert you in this manner when the door is opened.
Can I sound the siren remotely i.e. if my separate camera system detects motion and alerts me, can I then trigger the Yale alarm from my smartphone to activate the siren?
Martyn, Bristol
Yes you can remote activate the alarm using your smartphone.
Can the 3-pack door contact set be used with the IA330?
David Yule, DONCASTER
The Yale IA systems are compatible with the Yale Intruder range of accessories. We sell these individually, the door contacts you need are Yale Intruder Door Contact.
Does the system tell you when it has been armed? Does it tell you on entry to deactivate the alarm or bleep prior to alarm sounding please?
Jaz, Readiung
The system will show as armed or disarmed using the Yale Smart Home App. You are able to set an entry time delay on this alarm upon entering the property.
Can the alarm be set so that only a) window / door sensors work and b) window / door sensors +PIR?
i.e. so that a night time humans wandering downstairs won't set off the alarm.
Duncan Robinson, Bexley
The Yale Sync alarms can be setup with 2 different zones, allowing you to have selected sensors unarmed during the night if needed.
Can I use a home hub adapter to connect to the router, via my property electrical wiring. I currently use my free sat box this way to connect to the internet.
Michael Chapman, King's Lynn
Unfortunately this is not possible, the hub would have to be connected to your router via Ethernet cable
