Week 2 of Yales’ National Home security Month focusses particularly on securing windows and doors.

Statistics show that two thirds of burglars gain access through a door and 30 per cent gain access through a window. It is of vital importance that both your windows and doors are as secure as possible with high security window and door locks, particularly during the winter months as monthly offending levels can be up by one and a half times when hours of daylight are reduced.

External timber doors should be fitted with either a mortice lock and/or a nightlatch that complies with British Standard BS3621 to ensure the maximum security possible.
