Finding time to get your home security in check can seem like a mammoth task, especially with everyday life presenting so many distractions and pressures.<\/p>\n

Seasonal shifts bring with them a number of home security dangers. Darker mornings and evenings unfortunately mean our homes are more at risk of burglary, as pesky thieves take advantage of homes being left unlocked in darkness. October is also a time when thousands of students across the country head to university, something criminals are well aware of, with many students taking hundreds or thousands of pounds\u2019 worth of gadgets and equipment with them \u2013 yet we\u2019d bet that security of these items isn\u2019t top of a fresher\u2019s to do list\u2026<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where National Home Security Month<\/a> comes in. The entire month of October has been allocated to helping people with their home security woes, offering advice and seasonal tips on how to protect the nation\u2019s homes and most treasured possessions.<\/p>\n

Each week there will be a focus on a different element of home security:<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Week 3<\/strong> \u2013 Smart security and connected devices<\/h4>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Week 4<\/strong> \u2013 Darker nights and clocks go back<\/h4>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Week 5<\/strong> \u2013 Seasonal advice in time for Halloween and Bonfire Night<\/h4>\n

Did you know that less than a quarter of people we surveyed last year have security alarms fitted on their homes? This shocking statistic, revealed in our 2015 research into the nation\u2019s security habits, tells a story of a blas\u00e9 attitude towards home security.
