Z-Wave lets you open your door using your phone.

We’re huge fans of tech here at Safe.co.uk and anything that helps make life a little easier (and more secure!) sits just fine with us.

That’s why we’ve been advocating the Keyfree with Z-Wave Module, one of the latest in a line of smart home technology from Yale. It’s a bit of a mouthful to pronounce but its fundamentals are simple to get to grips with – it allows remote locking and unlocking of your front door using an app on your smartphone.

You’ll no longer have to worry about losing keys or getting locked out of your home, or even remembering to leave a spare set of keys for visitors – you can program a visitor code that remains separate to your personal code and these can be changed as often as you like.

The electronic digital door lock is accessed by either PIN code on the keypad or wirelessly (using the Z-Wave protocol) with the smart home system, via the app. It hails the next generation of technology-based home security solutions, championing pioneering industry technology. It even allows you to remotely add new users and set schedules as to when they can enter the property, as well as tracking when they entered – handy for keeping an eye on who comes and goes!

And you know you’re getting quality and security thanks to Yale’s market leading reputation and commitment to home security.

An important factor to take into consideration for your next home security purchase is its credentials – is the product police-approved? The Yale Keyfree is indeed approved by the Police-led initiative ‘Secured by Design’ as well as being insurance approved, so you can rest assured that when you leave your home each day, it is properly protected.

This particular lock is battery powered and has an emergency battery backup and key override should the batteries run flat before you replace them. However a warning will let you know when the batteries are running low so you shouldn’t get caught out. In the case of an attempted burglary or tampering, the 80 decibel alarm will sound.

Our MD Anthony has this to say about the smart tech: “We will always sell the simpler day-to-day products our customers expect, but we’re also committed to offering them the latest products on the market. This is the first in a long line of industry innovations designed to cater for today’s tech-savvy society.”

The Keyfree comes with professional installation by a Yale Security Point Installer, following a free site survey and is available in polished brass or chrome. It is compatible with 95% of all current multipoint locks so there is no need to replace your existing mechanism. Check out all of our Yale Z-Wave locks
