I was looking for an addition to the Squire combination padlock that I have had and used for over four years for the garden shed, which has always felt well made and sturdy and, provided that I lubricate it about once a year, continues to work well. The CP40S appeared to be the same design concept, and indeed also works well, despite it being a little smaller and having a different design to the bezel combination wheels. Its "feel" is a little different and perhaps less reassuringly solid, but for the time being I am happy to recommend it as a good padlock

stuck immediately -had to angle grind the lock off and throw it away-complete waste of money

Easy to set up and use and the combination itself works well even with gloved hands. No problems so far after a month or two of outdoor use.

I use the lock on my boat in Poole harbour. It is of good quality and stands up well to salt water. As it is of good quality it gives me piece of mind that the boat will not get broken into

Rather disappointed with this product although they are in popular use. The first lock worked for about a week then seized up and I was unable to open it until I had squirted some WD40 in. This lasted about a week and Safe were very good and replaced the lock so excellent for customer service but the product is fiddly to use, the numbers have to be so precise or it won't open and the plastic button is not very positive to use. I now have to grease the loop regularly so the users can operate the lock. When compared to an old Abus brass lock with rotating numbers which never seems to go wrong or jam up, this product is not to be recommended. I don't think the weatherproofing is particularly effective either as the lubrication seems to wash away very quickly. The design, meant for outdoor environment is not very good. It is almost impossible to turn the numbered wheels when the lock is wet (which is often in Cornwall!)

I bought these padlocks for external hatches on my sailing boat. Previously I have used the 50mm Squire padlock which have been good but getting rather costly. Being out in the marine environment they need to be rustproof. In many ways padlocks on a boat are a deterrent not a solution as a determined villain will get in regardless of how much damage they cause.

This is the best padlock I have had for the turbine shed. Lot of salt in the air hereabouts and all the previous locks have corroded badly and quickly. This one isn?t old yet, but it is still as new. And if you are coming back directly, you can click it shut, and leave the combination as it is(not a recommendation ?
