Keyed Alike Padlocks

Keyed alike padlocks offer the same functionality and construction as ‘keyed' padlocks, but they can be opened with the same key. This means that multiple keyed alike padlocks can be placed around a property in order to secure garden gates out buildings for example, but can all be opened with the same key, reducing the need to have large and often bulky key bunches. Keyed alike padlocks are suitable for businesses and are available in CEN rated and insurance approved product options when required. Businesses such as security firms, landscape gardening or other sectors where multiple locations need to be accessed conveniently on one site benefit from implementing keyed alike padlocks, that can all be opened with the same key.

While technically possible, we wouldn't recommend trying to convert an existing padlock to keyed alike. We would firmly recommend choosing a keyed alike padlock set from a trusted brand that will ensure your property and valuables are secure, while enjoying the benefits of having a single key to open the multiple padlocks.

From a construction perspective, keyed alike padlocks are as secure as single key or keyed padlocks. Keyed alike padlocks also come with the same CEN ratings and insurance approvals, meaning that they are suitable for businesses and domestic use. However, keyed alike padlocks operate from the same key, meaning that the keyholder could potentially gain access to multiple locations, albeit they would have to be aware that all the padlocks are keyed alike.
