This post box was placed on our gate posts and looks nice in place. Sadly, because our gate posts are lighted the solar backlight for the house number never comes on. We had tested it in the house before putting it up so we know it works but it detects when it is dark to come on. No big problem as our lighting shows the numbers. These numbers are stick on decals.

You may notice a black rectangle on the photo of the product on the bottom of the side panel. This is a hole. You can sometimes see the post through this hole, but sometimes it is stuck at the top and you can't so this isn't a foolproof way of checking if the post has arrived. In fact, we were checking the bottom and thought we'd had no post and then found 3 weeks of post in there so certainly don't rely on that, however, it did prove to hold all of that post so the storage capacity is enough for an average holiday. The hole also reduces the weather proofing a small amount. Some of our mail has been damp (not soaked) when there is a hard shower.

If the post is not put well down into the box by the postman, you can remove it through the post hole at the top without using the key. So you should also accept that this is not 100% secure, though it is likely not a huge problem.
