Frontend Web Developer

We are looking for a new full-time front-end web developer to help in developing our websites. The role will focus primarily on front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc) but will also involve some back-end duties (PHP, MySQL, etc). This is an opportunity to work for a close knit team and gain experience working for a market leader keen to keep on the cutting edge of the web.

Based in Preston, we are close to the motorways and national rail links.

Responsibilities Include

  • Develop front-ends of existing websites to provide best UX experience.
  • Work in a team of both technical and non-technical people.
  • Be active in the design process, sometimes coming up with designs.
  • Convert designs into cross-device compatible web pages.
  • Working with PHP primarily to enable integrating designs.
  • Keep up-to-date with the industry as it develops.

Skills Required

  • A deep understanding of HTML, CSS, advanced JavaScript and JQuery with experience using all.
  • Extensive experience with responsive design.
  • Good eye for the design of ecommerce websites as well as the layout of webpages.
  • Intermediate level of skill with PHP, MySQL and OOP and willing to learn more.
  • Fundamental understanding of UX design and the importance of IA.
  • A good understanding of optimising websites for speed.
  • Working as part of a team as well as under your own initiative.
  • Ability to work with other peoples’ code.
  • Source control experience.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in ecommerce. Examples of previous work are essential.
