The Swann purchase was at the end of a lot of research into cctv camera’s and lots of different systems. I’m so glad I went with this system as I’ve been really impressed with it so far. What you get for your money is good. Loads of functionality, lots of different settings and even the ability for the box to sound an alarm when the PIR is tripped. This was great when we had our car and trailer loaded up to leave early the next morning. We could sleep easy knowing if someone approached it we would be woken by he alarms. Great picture quality and recording. Also love the fact I get emails with pictures whenever it’s activated. All round a great system

I was in two minds whether to install a wireless surveillance system or a wired one. I had previously purchased a wired Swann system a few years ago. The attraction of an easier installation with wireless was appealing, but I thought what if there was a "drop out" in connection possibly at a crucial moment. So I fitted the wired system and was glad I did, the quality of the recorded video and images sent via e mail are excellent. The 5 megapixel cameras are superb at facial recognition and number plate identification. I would recommend Swann without hesitation, a great product

Very satisfied would have liked sound but might fit later.

Taking a little time to understand record and save functions

I bought the Swann DVR4-4980 4 Channel 5 Megapixel 2 Camera True Detect CCTV Kit a few weeks ago. I bought two cameras with it. I installed it myself at a fraction of the cost quoted by a cctv technician. It’s set to record motion only so doesn’t record all the time and fill up the hard drive. The quality of the cctv images is pretty good. The linked app for iPad and iPhone enables me to view images from my house anywhere. The kit gives me peace of mind in case of an incident at my home address. Recommended.

Easy to fit,set up and use

Being IT professional I had no problem setting the system up. Running cables, mounting cameras, configuring system - no problem. I'm considering adding at least one extra camera to the system (currently 2) to overlook back garden and replacing current HDD with a 4-6TB so that it can record continuously for longer at full resolution.

3 things that I'm not that chuffed about are:

a) the connectivity between the box and phone app is quite poor - the connection drops, even if I'm in the the same WiFi system - this might be due to using BT mini connectors rather than plugging it directly into the router interface

b) reg plates are hardly legible at a distance 10m + even at 5MP resolution that I'm using

c) at night, the IR basically makes reg plates reading impossible - due to the reflection of the IR beam against reg plates surface. Some people are not happy with the IR lamps glowing red in the dark - I think it's actually good deterrent. The frame rate at full 5MP is poor - but ok at full HD.

It comes with set of stickers to let potential burglars know they are being recorded.

For a £250 this is good value for money. A plus is the ability to highly customise areas, triggers and the option to upload still pictures to DropBox at pre-set intervals (say after alarm is triggered, pictures will be uploaded every few seconds, so that even it the burglar takes the box with them - there will be evidence stored in the cloud)

Very pleased with product. Everyone remarks about the excellent picture quality. I will be going for a third camera.

The set up of the system and running the cables was straight forward and picture quality is good even up to a range of 20 metres and at night using the infrared setting. I think that for the money it is value for money and it does the job I set out to achieve. The only down side is I get quite a lot of false activations from the PIR sensor, even after many adjustments to the sensor. The sensor only works out to about 15 metres so if you are installing the camera on a second floor to look down at an area then you have to assess this and where the sensor will cover. The only other option is to have the cameras on continuous record and forget about the sensor option. However overall it’s not a bad system and Safe.co.uk as a retailer delivered the system very quickly and would use them again.

Excellent product and truly excellent picture quality. Easy to understsnd fitting instructions. So simple to follow and install yourself, able to view anytime with the homesafe app and zoom in with good quality. Glad i purchased and would recommend to anybody
