Yale Platinum 3 Star - Euro Double Cylinder 50 - 45 (95mm Polished Brass)

Arrived in a day with another (brass) lock. A fiddle to fit because the door handle and plates had to be removed. This particular lock was very difficult to use in the first insance, being extremely difficult to turn the key, sometimes requiring two hands! Something seemed to be fouling the mechanism. (There were no problems with the other lock.) I telephoned Yale and they advised lubricating, suggesting that the lock had been in long-term storage. Without much expectation because there seemed to be a solid obstruction, I applied WD40 via the door edge hook hole and GT85 around the lock barrel at both ends and into the slot. After operating the lock many times, there was some improvement; more so after leaving the lock for some hours. After several days and some usage, there was some more improvement. I intend to insert more lubricant soon and re-assess the lock.

The Yale 3-star Euro cylinder is superb! Hopefully the Yale 3-star and BS Kite marking on the cylinder key-faces will deter would-be thieves attempting a forced entry.

The lock cylinder cannot be "picked" and also offers anti-snap protection; additionally protruding pegs on both sides of the cylinder makes removal from the door impossible without first removing both inside and outside door handles.

The flat double sided keys appear to be fully supported when inserted into the cylinder so as to protect against "bumping". The keys may be inserted into the cylinder either way around achieving easy insertion particularly when dark. Obtaining replacement keys requires key identifiers provided by Yale to be quoted.

Excellent quality lock which was very easy to fit. No problems yet.

Having placed the order via the web page it was quickly dispatched and arrived safely the next day via the royal mail.

Packed in a padded envelope the lock itself had minimal packaging, Fitting is quite simple, take out any securing screws and handles that may be hindering its exchange, remove your old lock and install the new one taking care to replace all the screws that you have taken out, don't use power tools as this can strip the threads of the lock leading to you not being able to secure your lock in the door frame, service from safe.co.uk was excellent and would certainly use them again should I need to do so. 5*

I checked the quality of the locks on two PVCU doors only to find that they were of the cheapest type. I paid £1000 each for these doors so i am now so pleased to know that my new Yale 3 star locks are giving me proper protection. My door supplier didnt even give me an option but said he now would do that for other customers. Delivery was swift and the ordering system easy to use. He could see that this was also a good selling point and offered added value to any of the many doors and conservatories that they sell. Regards .Alan
