The Yale Easy Fit range of alarms are a breakthrough in both performance and technology. The intuitive wireless system has been designed with DIY in mind ensuring the Easy Fit Alarm really is "easy to fit". No wiring or running cables in walls or under the carpet and you won't need the services of a qualified electrician.

The alarm components are pre-linked and have a wide 30 metre wireless range using the highly reliable 868MHz frequency, ensuring you can place them practically anywhere. The Yale Easy Fit Alarm range - designed with the user in mind.

The Yale Easy Fit Telecommunicating Alarm EF-KIT2 is a fully featured alarm system designed for any type of home. The system is armed or disarmed using a PIN code on the touch screen keypad and includes a pre-set 20 second entry/exit period. When the alarm is triggered a loud external siren will sound to alert others of an intruder. Providing the keypad is connected to a landline telephone socket the system will also alert you via telephone when the alarm is triggered and can be activated and deactivated via a touch tone phone.

In the box

PIR Motion Detector2 x PIR Motion Detector
The detectors should be placed in the corner of rooms that are vulnerable to intruders. When the alarm is armed an infrared sensor will detect any movement and activate the loud external siren.

Door Sensor Contact2 x Door Sensor Contacts
When the alarm is armed, if a door or window that is protected by the contact is opened the contact is broken activating the loud external siren.

Outdoor Siren Box1 x Outdoor Siren Box
Fitted in a highly visible location on the exterior of the property the loud 100dB siren will sound and the LED will flash when the alarm is triggered.

Outdoor Dummy Siren Box1 x Outdoor Dummy Siren Box
Fitted to the exterior of the property the Dummy Box will add a further visual deterrent to a potential burglar.

Touch Screen Control Panel1 x Touch Screen Control Panel
The control panel is used to arm or disarm the alarm system via entry of your own unique PIN code. The touch screen should be fixed to a wall and connected to mains power and allows access to advanced alarm features when connected to a landline telephone socket.

Features

Pre-linked components
All the wireless components are linked together straight out of the box. There is no technical knowledge or wiring required to install a Yale Easy Fit alarm.

Alarm notification by phone
The alarm system can store up to three individual telephone numbers and will ring them in an order you choose if the alarm triggered. You could store your mobile, work and home numbers ensuring you are alerted immediately.

Part arming by zone
The alarm can be set to create two different zones allowing you to arm one or both zones. This can be especially useful if you decide to split the upstairs and downstairs of a property into two zones. While away from the property you would activate both zones and during the night you could activate only the downstairs zone.

Advanced technology 868 MHz wireless
Yale Easy Fit alarms are designed to operate on on a frequency of 868MHz which uses a short duty cycle of only 1%. This means that any single device can only transmit for 1% of the time, leaving the channel free 99% of the time. When multiple devices are operating on the same system this technology ensures a more stable connection and little chance of interference. Many DIY alarm systems use a less regulated higher duty cycle reducing performance.

Rolling Code Technology
A remote control device transmits a unique code to the control panel in most DIY systems. This unique code is used by the system to determine that the correct remote control is attempting to contact the control panel - for example not your neighbour's remote control. The problem with the unique code is that it might be possible to intercept it and as a result make a clone enabling someone else to activate the system. Rolling Code technology ensures this cannot happen by changing the unique code every time it is sent to the control panel, meaning if the code is intercepted it will not work again as it can only be used once - adding a further level of security.

This alarm does what it says, is easy to use and seems reliable. Installation was logical but confused by initially trying to follow the installation guide to the letter and by me or the unit getting confused, some sensors appeared to come up with the same areas/identities. if in any doubt or confusion or any other problems in the initial setup do not waste your time as I did persisting for hours in this mode just end the initial setup, then go into the programming mode delete the problematic sensor(s) and then re add them, Ta -Dah all working

Another confusion not mentioned is some sensors appeared to be unresponsive/not sensing while trying to test. The omission of this issue from the manual also wasted time, should you see this don't worry, it seems that some of the sensors take a couple of movement free minutes before they can recognise movement (like a background stabilisation), so if in the tests you can not get immediate response waving your hands, it may just need leaving the sensor a minute or two after setting before testing on walkthrough. As soon as I told the help line operator that 2 sensors appeared not to work he asked if I was the leaving it 2 minutes without movement, I suspect he gets this issue all the time.

Also if you have broadband on your phone don't forget to use an ADSL filter on the line from the unit.

whilst you could install this alarm alone, to put sensors in place and test is really a 2 person job so having a second pair of hands is invaluable.

With this knowledge the second system I installed was all done in 2.5 hours (as apposed to the best part of a day on the first one) .

A great product

It was fitted by my son in law who has fitted one before. He found it straightforward as with his own which was fitted a few months before. I am pleased it has a dummy external box so the house has one back and front. I am hoping this will deter burglars. The alarm is loud and set to give me plenty of time to disarm it in the morning. I will buy another control panel for upstairs so it can be switched off more easily in the mornings. I like the ability to switch off the upstairs alarm which I do at night.

Great product and easy to install, but ensure you have power and telephone socket in the location you are installing in otherwise you will end up with wires all over.

Never having an alarm before I was put off at the thought of having wires run everywhere until I came across this system, easy to fit, even for me and easy to use. The bright yellow alarm box makes it a very visable deterant and is loud enough to scare any intruder, being battery powered there's no need for wires except for the control unit that only needs a plug socket. I would recommend this to any novice DIY bodger, if I can fit it anyone can! Great alarm system at a very reasonable price making it available to all.

Great bit of kit and works well. Only wish I gone with the key pad and not the touchscreen. Find it hard to see first thing in the morning.

I gave a lot of thought to changing my 20 year old security system. I spent 3 months looking at self installed systems before buying my yale system. It was everything claimed. Easy to fit, easy to use and is proving very reliable.

Good product but ,in my opinion, the Yale installation and programming instructions could be a lot clearer. Still struggling to get electronic fobs to work.

This alarm was purchased to go into a new house, straight out of the box the parts show good quality and the instruction manual is very extensive and takes you step by step through the initial set up and provides clear operating instructions. Installation was very simple, following the instructions you couldn't go wrong, all fixings are supplied in the box. If the alarm is activated it will call up to 3 programmed numbers to let you know, the door contacts are activated every time the door is opened, even when not alarmed, which is great if the little ones let themselves into the garden. We have had the alarm installed for a few months now and have never had a false activation

Good product for the price, my only criticism is the manual and online guidance particularly when adding extra sensors.

It is far easier to clear all sensors at start then add them naming each one as you set them up.

Good service from Safe.co.uk

I have installed Five of the easy fit Yale easy fit alarms for family and friends, I am qualified electrician and after installation friends and family have been very pleased with the product after there old alarm systems have fail due to age the Yale easy fit is a quick harf day install if you have a pair of long ladders and a sharp drill bit.

The only extra thing I needed extra after experience installing the system would be 2.5mm metal drill bit if putting door sensors on a metal/PVC door frame which you get in most modern house obviously the drilled hole is used as pilot hole any smaller and the screws will snap.

I would also suggest getting the remote control key fob as part of the install as this make the day to day use of the alarm so much easier and there only £20 which

An excellent, easy to install alarm system which is straightforward to use and readily accepts additional sensors (eg an additional entry/alarm setting keypad and door sensors for the rear of the house) - simply follow the instructions supplied. The system has many more functions available than most users will need or want, but it's simple to set up and does its' job very well. The highly visible outside siren unit is an obvious and effective deterrent against visitors of dubious character who might be showing an unwanted interest in your home, and if the alarm does go off, you and your close neighbours will definitely know about it.....which is exactly what you need and the 2nd reason (after the deterrent) for having an alarm installed the first place. This is a very good quality product from a well-respected manufacturer, and does what it says on the tin effectively and at a price which is good value for money

Do the PIR's have a flashing sensor? Just trying to assess the battery life of them.
Deepa Bhatt, Ilford
The PIR's don't have a constant flashing light. The only time the sensor will light up is when it picks up any motion in the room.

Due to the alarms being wireless, something like a jammer, what would happen then? Would the alarm go off due to tampering or would the system not react?
Michael, Belfast
The alarm has a secure rolling code transmission signal and enhanced anti-jamming detection which would trigger the alarm if tampering in this way was attempted. This unique code is used by the system to determine that the correct remote control is attempting to contact the alarm.

Are these alarms compliant with Grade 2 EN50131 when fitted as a DIY project? Thanks

To be EN50131 compliant the alarm must be professionally installed and include an annual maintenance check.

In the instructions it says the PIRs should be fitted 2 metres from the floor. Will it effect performance if they are fitted higher as would prefer fitting closer to the ceiling at say 3 metres?
Bryan, Westhoughton
The PIR's could be fitted higher but you would need to adjust the angle to ensure that motion is detected and enable the best coverage of the room in which it is fitted.
Phil R

Would you fit both a PIR and door sensor in the same room, or is that unnecessary?
Augustin McLean, Gillingham
It is recommended that you do not point the PIR directly at a door which includes a door contact sensor. It is not necessary to have both as just one of the sensors will trigger the alarm when somebody enters the room. There is also a chance of technical issues as the signal can get delayed.
Phil R

John Burton, Kimbolton Cambs
Yes the adjustment period of the siren can be changed to either 10 minutes or 3 minutes.

Could a burglar disarm the system with his own key fob. If I have 2 key fobs can I disarm the system with either one?
Steve Gough, Alton
Only you can link multiple keyfobs to the alarm and only these inked fobs will arm or disarm the alarm system.
