Smart Locks

While most leading brands offer broad smart device compatibility, not all smart locks are compatible with smart phones, with some either only supporting Apple or Android devices. Some smart locks are also only available with either fob, key card access or digital keypad input to operate. The benefit to using a smart lock with a smart phone is that you can control lock functionality on the move, setup rules for access or grant lock access while off site. However, this isn’t always necessary and for that reason not all smart locks require smart phones, with smart locks available that are operated with either a number pad, key fob or key card. Smart locks that don’t require app functionality are often well suited to environments where access levels are consistent and don’t require frequent one off user access, such as offices or shared living spaces.

Smart door locks can be fitted in much the same way as a traditional lock. It’s important to check the specifications of the lock before purchase though, as some smart locks are designed to work in conjunction with existing locks. It’s also important to choose the right smart lock for your required application, with UPVC doors, garden gates and fire exits being just some locations where compatibility should be considered.
