Because it is exposed to the elements, basic maintenance is required, of hinges & lock just needing a little oil every now and again. What would have been nice would have been a fully dimensioned drawing so that you can safely work out the spacing before you buy as to if the studs for the horizontal grips will not interfere with the vertical railings. I was keen to find a post box where thieves could not force the door open and not get their hand in to the bottom of the post box. The post box is not difficult to install, but it will take two people. One to hold the box firmly against the gate while the other bolts through the post into the fixing brackets on the other side of the gate. It will depend on the size of the newspaper or magazine to be posted.

Unfortunately post boxes are not immune to theft and people potentially trying to hook mail out.
