I recently purchased the Avocet ABS 3 Star - Euro Thumbturn Cylinder to replace the lock on my front door. I was overall very pleased with the product, but I did have one issue with one of the bolts.

The short bolt that came with the cylinder installed easily, but when I tried to install the longer bolt, it wouldn't go through. I tried everything I could think of to get it to thread, but it was no use. I eventually had to take the bolt to a lathe operator to have it fixed.

I'm not sure if this was a one-off issue or if it's a common problem with this product. However, I would recommend that Avocet check the threading on the longer bolt before shipping it out.

Suggestion:

Avocet should check the threading on the longer bolt before shipping it out to prevent other customers from having the same issue I did.

With multiple locks it is worth getting the coloured fobs to distinguish between keys for doors. Locks all move smoothly and we feel more secure with the enhanced security features of these locks. We replaced one key/thumb turn, one dual key and a pair of patio door locks. All are of the same great quality and sit in the door funiture well. All in all a purchase I am very happy with.

Avocet ABS Ultimate 3 Star Euro Cylinder

The Avocet ABS Ultimate 3 Star Euro Double Cylinder offers maximum security and is Kitemarked to TS007:2014 with a 3 star rating. This lock is Secured By Design, which is the official Police security initiative and is also tested by the Master Locksmith Association. This anti-snap cylinder includes a sacrificial snap section and includes 3 high security dimple keys.

TS007 3 Star Rating

The TS007 3 Star Rating is widely recognised as the highest security standard UK locks can conform to. TS007 3 star cylinders display the British Standard Kitemark and protect every form of attack including lock snapping and drilling. The British Standard Kitemark can help deter thieves. It's trusted worldwide and most insurance companies will insist your cylinders display it. Locks that display the Kitemark have been certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI), so you know that each product has been manufactured to a high standard.

High Security Keys

Each cylinder comes with 3 high security double sided keys, with smooth edges, and can be used any side up, making these cylinders easy to use. You will also receive a unique key card which allows you to purchase additional keys securely.

Sacrificial Snap

Lock snapping is the most common form of attack that a burglar will use to break in to your home. Anti-snap cylinders include a sacrificial snap line. When force is applied, the cylinder snaps at this 'weak point' but the actual mechanism stays intact. The sacrificial snap line must face the outside of your door.

Drill Protection

The ABS Ultimate 3 Star Cylinders include protection against lock drilling with 16 anti-drill pins, providing the ultimate resistance against forced attacks. Each lock is tested by the Master Locksmith Association's and has achieved the Sold Secure Diamond standard.

I looked at several different options of Euro lock but decided this ABS Avocet lock suited my needs the best. It is very well built, easy to use and was straightforward to fit. It provides good security to our entrance door. The service from Safe and speed of delivery was also first class.
