Avocet ABS Ultimate 3 Star - Euro Thumbturn Cylinder 30 - 35 (65mm Polished Chrome) Reviews

Theses are good locks, but the measurements are a bit hit and miss. While they are flush inside, they aren’t outside and there’s no guidance other than measure to the outside of the handle plates, which I did. So either be prepared to send them back to get the correct size, or add 5mm either side

Fitting the locks is very simple and straightforward with only basic tools. They look good in the door and having KeyAlike is a great feature to have. Buying spare keys at the point of sale is cheap and worthwhile, especially if you have teenagers in the house! One last thing, the mechanism needed lubrication and then the keys had a nice feel when locking and unlocking.

Peace of mind that very few people are capable of getting through this lock is well worth the cost of upgrading, plus they can be keyed alike, and the thumbturn is very convenient. All locks should be made this robust really, standard locks are far too easy to snap or pick, and don't offer any serious security like the ABS Avocet does. It feels well made, fells solid and is a doddle to fit by even the most basic DIY enthusiast. I sleep well knowing my doors and home are safe, secure and protected by this good quality and very robustly made lock.

These cylinders are very secure, the key is robust (could ever imagine it snapping), and the thumbturn action silky smooth.

Easy to measure, ordering from Safe was great, and simple to install.

They're expensive but worth it.

easy to fit & use, great quality & very secure.

This (plus a matching key both sides cylinder) were used to replace one old cylinder (converting it to thumb turn on the inside - so much more convenient) and a second (outer door) cylinder that was only a year or so old but had started sticking, and could not be locked from outside. So far the new cylinders are good - quality is noticeably superior to the old ones, and the key matching service was very handy. Not cheap - but in this case I think the quality and additional security more than justifies the price. Ordering process was straightforward and they arrived as quoted.

An excellent lock security wise, well made and simple to fit, easy to use and a nice highly visible key that is easy to identify on a bunch of keys, the keys are coded so highly recommend this lock for insurance purposes and peace of mind.

Good fit, looks solid. I had to use my own existing shorter screws, otherwise it wouldn't lock, but I think that was because of my mortice locks.

It was easy to order a keyed alike set of 2 locks with different lengths, which I couldn't do on Avocet's website.

As expected the product is of great quality and I am very happy with it.

However, More importantly, I was extremely impressed with safe.co.uk's service. The website is extremely intuitive and made ordering and building my package incredibly simple and the parcel was delivered earlier than expected!

Would definitely buy again with confidence from safe.co.uk.

Bought x3 locks for front, side and back door to use all the same key but all were different lengths. Took 5min a door to fit, look and work great.

Did a lot of research on this lock and it's competitors felt this was the best and haven't been disappointed really pleased worth the investment.

I found the website easy to use and one to offer key alike at an affordable price.

The advice on the website is great to select the best lock for me.

The dispatch was quick and the items packed well with all extras and advice note.

Found fitting a breeze and have no issues regarding quality.

Would purchase again.

Appears to be a very good lock, I'm not really placed to say how secure the lock is but the lock picking lawyer seemed suitably impressed.

In my opinion you get what you pay for these locks are simply quality!

The locks arrived in great time with easy to follow instructions. They are nice and easy to change and look brilliant. The keyed alike feature is excellent too.

Highly recommend these locks to anyone who is looking to replace/ upgrade.

Paul

Ok, so this is a cylinder for changing the locks, as it were. I didn't know much about them until recently but now I realise how useful this is. My house has four doors and they are all eurocylinder sorts, which are very common on modern doors. Realising this, I now have all the doors using the same key which is really better because I can use a single key and use any door rather than having several.

The next thing I learned was that the difference is the length of the cylinder, measured from the centre to the ends as it has a fixing screw.

Changing them is trivial. Do it once and you'll know how from then on - easier than changing a plug fuse.

Security? Well, that's hard to say, really. Nobody has broken in so far and it seems I can't get local locksmiths to cut me a new key, which bodes well. There are features that you want, e.g. a breaking end so if someone twists the lock with a big lever it just breaks off rather than unlocking the door. A bunch of other things, e.g. anti pick, etc. Some of these have to be supported by the door, e.g. the pins and whatnot.

Not hugely cheap but not pricey either. I am well pleased, so far anyway.

Happy with the purchase, easy install as expected, smooth operations, having matching keys has made life much easier.

Coming from two different locks, that both required keys on the inside, these are absolutely godsend, ability to lock (and more importantly unlock) without having to find keys is great.

Extremely easy to install and the keys that come with them can go in either way so fumbling about in the dark is better as well.

All in all, very very happy, should have done this years ago. Thanks

The locks are very good quality, arrived as needed and fitted easily.

Bought to replace all house locks for Keyed Alike and have done the trick perfectly.

Safe are a pleasure to deal with, each time it was needed to contact them they were informative, and professional.

I would highly recommend Safe and Avocet again.

it's pretty easy to fit the lock cylinder into the lock case and door. there are 11 pin for the key. The quality of the cylinder seems very good.

After I bought the euro double cylinder, it took several times for the payments to gone though. May be it's because of my card type and safe.co.uk has a higher security level, the validation of my payments always failed. but their customer service is very kind. they took the payment through the phone. then the cylinder was delivered to me the next week. It only took me 10 mins to fit the cylinder into my lock.

The Avocet ABS 3 Star locks are of excellent quality. They are more expensive than many of their competitors but I’m confident that our investment in them will be worth it. The thumbturn feature is very handy as is the same key option. This option allows us to have a secure home lock system with only one key.

Great lock but big advantage is you can get different sizes to match back, side and front doors to use the same key. Even got my elderly mums doors to use the same so no only need the one key.

I chose this product after reading reviews on Safe.co.uk - easy to install and great customer service.

It was very solid in design and was very easy to fit,it honestly took a couple of minutes and I now feel safe in and away from home in the knowledge that my new locks will help prevent my home being burgled. I highly recommend this lock.It is great value for money and is a very small price to pay for 5 star security . I have now changed all of my locks at home and I know that they can not be snapped fron the outside of my house so hopefully any intruders who come calling would see I have top quality locks fitted.

The Avocet locks are perfect for my needs, we have Keyed Alike and I had measured one the wrong way round, so sent the code to Safe and the right measurements and the lock and keys all the same as the previous arrived within a few days.

Excellent product, easy to fit done within 10inutes,3 star lock mechanism which is anti bump/drill. Came with 3 keys and security card to get further keys cut. Safe website was competitive with its price too, I would definitely buy from you again, thank you for the great price and quick delivery

Having recently moved in to a new house I wanted to replace the ancient euro style lock in the garden room door to improve security of the property. After much online research I decided on the Avocet ABS 3 star. This is a really nice lock. Buld quality is very good and the security features are excellent. I purchased it from Safe website, delivery was extremely fast and the lock itself was fitted very easily in just a few minutes. It has been installed for over 3 months now, looks good & works flawlessly. I can happily recommend both the lock & Safe.co.uk.

Prompt delivery of a quality product at competetive prices. Fitting was straight forward and we completed all 4 locks in under 2 hours and I am a reluctant DIYer. With multiple locks it is worth getting the coloured fobs to distinguish between keys for doors. Locks all move smoothly and we feel more secure with the enhanced security features of these locks. We replaced one key/thumb turn, one dual key and a pair of patio door locks. All are of the same great quality and sit in the door funiture well. All in all a purchase I am very happy with.

Quality product, easy to fit for an excellent price.

excellent

A fantastic lock, easy to fit into the door, no experience needed. Incredibly secure giving you serious piece of mind that nobody will waste the time trying to get into your property with one of these. And they offer a service to register your keys with them Incase you want more cut to your unique fit

Moved into a new house and the front and rear PVC doors had different mechanisms and keys for each. I wanted to only have 1 key for both doors so opted for a keyed alike set. Wnet for the Avocet ABS 3 Star as it's very secure and was offered in the odd sizes required to fit my doors.

Great product, real good quality , easy to fit and use - bought for my sons new house for peace of mind . I have three of these locks at my house and would highly recommend!

Safe.Co.uk did a great job of supporting my questions about the above lock and delivered in record time !!

We are currently in the process of having some new windows at the front of our house. When the installer arrived he noticed that we had a Rock Door on the side of our house but also noticed that the lock which we had was not one of the 3 star secure ones. We decided to investigate this and after some research found the ‘Safe Company’. We ordered the Avocet 3 Star ABS with a Dimple lock key since we felt that this one would meet our needs. It certainly did, the price, quality and delivery was excellent. We fitted it ourselves in about 30 minutes and it is performing very well. We had not used the Safe company before but we will do so in future on an ‘as need’ basis.

lock parts Good quality build, keys are well made and premium looking

Had a new composite door fitted, but unfortunately the installer left us with a bog standard, non-kitemarked lock. Did a lot of research on Euro locks, and it became obvious that Avocet was one of the most trusted brands. Found the lock I wanted on the Safe website at a reasonable price, and made the purchase. Easy lock to fit, the mechanism works smoothly and I'm confident that the security of our home has been enhanced.

The product was purchased as we had recently moved house and wanted to both synchronise and renew the locks. The thumbturn is easy to install by use of a simple bolt through the locking plate and to use, as the same key now opens both our Porch and inside Porch doors, there is no using the wrong key.

Very pleased with the product. We feel more secure. I like the horizontal key slot as something different and feels more special and quality as a result. Build-quality appears very good. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to fit but with the help of Youtube I found this very easy. Very pleased!

I recently purchased the Avocet ABS 3 Star - Euro Thumbturn Cylinder to replace the lock on my front door. I was overall very pleased with the product, but I did have one issue with one of the bolts.

The short bolt that came with the cylinder installed easily, but when I tried to install the longer bolt, it wouldn't go through. I tried everything I could think of to get it to thread, but it was no use. I eventually had to take the bolt to a lathe operator to have it fixed.

I'm not sure if this was a one-off issue or if it's a common problem with this product. However, I would recommend that Avocet check the threading on the longer bolt before shipping it out.

Suggestion:

Avocet should check the threading on the longer bolt before shipping it out to prevent other customers from having the same issue I did.

Great product, easy to fit.

I looked at several different options of Euro lock but decided this ABS Avocet lock suited my needs the best. It is very well built, easy to use and was straightforward to fit. It provides good security to our entrance door. The service from Safe and speed of delivery was also first class.

Delighted with this lock. The previous one was difficult to insert the key and required key access from both sides. Both these problems were fixed with this lock. It was very straightforward to fit and looks great. Safe.Co.Uk were easy to order from and they delivered quickly. Will definitely use again.

The Avocet locks are good quality, a little on the pricey side but I’m happy with them. However, replacement keys are too expensive.

Very happy with these two keyed alike cylinders I bought for my patio doors; they replaced the original budget ones after a few attempted burglaries on my estate, where some of the neighbours' locks and door handles were snapped off (alarmingly easily). I'm encouraged by how weighty they are and the smooth finish made fitting them effortless. I would say the best feature about them (which is something I learned after buying a different brand for my front door) is that the ends of the keys are rounded, which makes inserting them very easy, unlike my front door key which has a flat end and often catches. I intend to buy these barrels again to replace all of the less secure locks for the external doors to my parents' house.

Bought as part of a keyed alike set. All are good quality and work smoothly. Provided you measure exact size needed they are easy fit and are flush with handle. Thumb turn works well

The locks were ordered ‘keyed alike’ as a replacement for the (double) porch front doors after moving into a new house. They installed easily as expected. The thumb-turns are particularly useful. When unlocking from inside, all you do is turn it - so it can be done one-handed. When locking from the inside, you need to raise the door handle while rotating the thumb-turn in the opposite direction. A key-code card is provided for spares - 3 keys are supplied as standard. Locking and unlocking from the outside is a really smooth action, both with inserting the key and rotating it unlike a lot of other brands. I will buy this product again when necessary.

Easy to fit without the need for a locksmith. Having done some youtube research before buying I believe these 3 star locks are the most secure option available. Can order as many matching keys & barrels as you require, which enables you to use the same key fors different doors. I now only need the same key to open both my front & backdoor! =)

I have used these locks before and they were a non-negotiable choice for my new house when doors were replaced.

Recently moved house and wanted to replace all the locks. After quite a lot of research we settled on these as Safe.co.uk made it super simple to order keyed alike locks in exactly the combinations we wanted.

The locks themselves are very solid and feel high quality. The operation is smooth and they are very easy to use. The thumb turn is very use and wish we'd got it on a couple of other doors.

As for fitting its very simple. Some locks came with two different length screws which is very handy and saved reusing the old grotty and mangled screws from the existing locks. Only negative is it feels the locks come up slightly short, especially the thumb turn one. Despite measuring and measuring again a couple of the locks are only just flush or ever so slightly inset. If your measurements are only just 30/30 for example, it might be worth going 35/35 and coping with the slight protrusion.

Overall very happy with these locks.

Very good quality, easy to install

Good quality locks with a nice finish

Excellent quality and finish. Easy to fit.

Good service from order point to delivery. Thankyou.

Although a bit pricey, it does give the peace of mind to have the highest level of safety protection. Quite easy to install and operate. We managed to replace a handful of cylinders in under an hour. The availability of tailor made keyed alike options is well worth having. The delivery was quite swift too.

After reading several reviews for keyed alike locks and shopping around I settled on SAFE.co.uk to make my purchase. The website has very detailed instructions/suggestions on how to take the relevant measurements required to select the correct lock cylinder size for your specific door type. Following these it was simply enough to use the site and select the required locks and ask for them to be keyed alike.

The chrome cylinder looks the part after it was installed (which was a breeze, euro cylinders are quite straightforward to instal!). As for security I would say its excellent, the cylinder is of a robust design with several security features along with a reasonable price.

High quality product delivering excellent levels of security. Relatively expensive but a fraction of the cost of a break in! Keyed-alike means we’re not fumbling with multiple keys every time we get home. Thanks!

Great set of locks got two locks keyed alike with thumb turns and fitted perfectly I would always recommend getting thumb turns for fire safety and the panic you have looking for door keys when you get a takeaway or delivery, and key alike just makes everything simple saves you snapping key by putting in wrong door which I did, the abs keys are great super thick no worries about them snapping. Locks are super secure will beat any brute force attacks and will beat anyone that's not a super prepared lock picker as no lock is completely pick proof but this comes very close to it

Wanted to update a euro lock for some time and this ticked the boxes. Build quality compared to the old one was night and day difference. Easy too follow measurements guide as my old one extended too far and wasn’t flush.

Fast delivery (next day) one screw to fit in matter of minutes. Used for 3 months now and very happy and likely to put any would be bad guy from even having a go just by seeing it.

Now to change all the other locks too this brand around the house. Makes Yale look basic.

Highly recommend this product and company.

Very good quality and very easy to replace the existing failed lock. Delivery was excellent arriving at the agreed time.

Very good locks. Benefitted from a little graphite lubrictant, which made them even smoother. Secure, easy to use with keys that are pocket friendly.

The lock arrived early from safe, found it was really simple to install(just removed one screw and pulled out the existing lock) directions we’re on the website, easy to use, i actually bought two with same key which has proven to be exceptionally handy i really can’t fault it in any way.

Excellent product and service

Good customer service l, highly accessible and useful guides on line to help you size product with a solid lump that feels very robust in action.

Extra keys were easy to order and the whole thing comes a card to register your details for reference later

Admittedly expensive, but nothing else available that is 5* and keyed alike

Quality product. Easy to order and easy to fit

Superb

Just moved into a new home with some keys missing and only a single key for some of the locks, so I decided to upgrade all around. I went with safe.co.uk so I could have a single key for 6 different locks and went with thumb-turn cylinders for fire safety.

Having a single key means that losing it can be expensive, especially if you think you might need to change the locks (you have to replace every lock rather than just one), but otherwise it's now considered fine from a security perspective. Equally thumb-turn locks aren't considered to be the most secure, but the fire safety benefit makes the overall benefit worth it. I went with the 3-star rated lock to counterbalance these concerns somewhat.

It wasn't the cheapest route to go down, but we're loving only requiring a single key, and not needing a key to lock up at night. No regrets.

Excellent quality locks, clearly made to a high standard. Very easy to install and very smooth mechanism. Highly recommended.

Very happy with this. Good delivery time, literally just a few minutes to swap with the old lock barrel, and the fit is perfect. Looks good, easy to operate, and we feel so much more secure now. A great result.

Found that much smoother action than the Yale and Ultima versions. Wide range of sizes. Easy to fit. Robust and appear to be well made.

Arrived promptly and well packaged with all additional keys as requested. Exactly to measurement and specs fitting was trivial, slotted straight into spaces left by the old locks. The convenience of the thumb turns cannot be emphasised enough! They are expensive, but for top of the market security the peace of mind is worth it

good website with supporting information. Good price for quality product, fast service

I fitted 7 of these locks to my new property. Although the burglar alarm is a deterrent I wanted top quality locks as a first line of defence. Hopefully, the kite mark is a further deterrent against intruders. Additionally for the two sets of French doors we chose the internal thumb turn for ease of use on warmer days.

These locks are packed with security features and are so easy to fit and the advice provided by Safe was clear and helpful. Finally, the key card provided for additional keys is a further additional security feature.

I fully recommend these locks. Take care in measuring your existing locks and you’ll have no problems and greatly enhanced security.

Got a pair of these keyed-alike for my front and back doors. Absolutely trivial to install, was done with both doors in about 5 minutes, works smoothly, confident in the security.

It isn't visible in the photos, but the thumbturn has about 5-6mm clearance from the end of the lock body (slightly spring loaded), so it'll turn even with bits of the door hardware being a bit raised.

I read elsewhere that the lock can't be opened unless the thumbturn is in a particular position - this doesn't seem to be true, it works well whatever the position, just need to turn it a bit more. Note the odd shape of the thumbturn means it won't work with some of the smart-lock kits out there, if that's important to you.

The keys are really smooth to use, and go in either way up, but the handle end is a bit chunky - not ridiculously so, but enough to notice. Note ordering more keys from ABS later is EXPENSIVE - £21.50 a key currently, so better order all you might need upfront.

I needed an additional lock matching the existing locks I had, safe.co.uk offered real value for money, and swift delivery. I am very happy with the service, 5 star.

Have used the Avocet 3- star for many years.

Top quality product

I would thoroughly recommend the Avocet ABS 3 Star Euro Double Cylinder lock. So far it seems secure and durable, although I’ve not had to test this myself, and it was easy to install. Safe.co.uk made the order process clear and simple and there was a guide to ensure that I ordered the correct size. I chose this particular lock after doing a bit of research and I thought it offered good value and had been well reviewed. One of the features that was important to me, apart from security, was the ability to have multiple locks matched to the same key.

3 star security and its stamped on the outside edge of the lock which is visible when it’s in situ.

These locks give top class service year in year out. They come with a new fitting bolt and and are very easy to fit. Loads of online guides to doing this if needed. The interior thumb turn is very convenient and safer in the unlikely but possible event of a fire. I’ve only given four stars for security as keyed both sides locks probably take the edge for this. However, it’s difficult to tell it’s a thumb turn from the exterior of a frosted glass door. I would advise that additional keys are ordered with the lock as well known high street shops charge over double for them if you need them later. Safe were the best on price for both the locks and additional keys.I ordered keyed alike locks and they were delivered within two days.first class service all round,Andrew Perry

I purchased this along with four 50-50 locks as a keyed alike pack The locks are excellent quality and are about as secure as I can imagine is needed. As they are euro locks, fitting is a piece of cake (two screws are provide with each lock in case you can't use the original) and the mechanism is slick. The ordering process for the keyed alike is simple, and they arrived much sooner than I was expecting (easily within a week if I recall correctly). Better quality than the locks I replaced, and because they were keyed alike, only one key to carry instead of trying to figure out which key is the right one for the lock, and the thumbturn, in my opinion, is much better if you need to exit in an emergency.

Very good would recommend them .

These locks are the highest quality and the fit and finish in polished brass is superb. They look and feel very secure and even the keys look expensive. Be careful though as the keys are magnetic so do not carry them near your credit or debit cards with a swipe strip of they could render them useless. The locks were very simple to fit with just one screw which was also supplied. Overall very satisfied with my locks. Reassuringly expensive locks that will last a long time and provide extra security for my home. Might even get me a discount on my contents insurance

I had a locksmith install it and it works really well. Also good value.

I did a lot of research for a good secure cylinder this one ticked all the right boxes.

Anti bump and anti pick also good robust build quality. Easy to choose size and type from Safe.co.uk website and quick delivery. I would recommend these cylinders for your home or business.

Great service by “safe”. The lock was very easy to fit and good quality. Delivery was prompt. All instructions to measure the correct lock was clear and concise. I would certainly use “Safe “ again. Hopefully not in near future. Thanks for your very efficient service. I will certainly recommend “Safe”

Marvelous. I moved into a new build block of flats and was given 1 key for the flat.... Where were the others?

I swapped my lock for this new one. There are 2 other "Holiday" flats on this floor. So I asked the neighbours if I could put my olddoor lock on a communal cupboard on our floor and get some extra keys cut for them.

A few days later I spotted some workmen in the cupboard fitting fire barrier.

The workmen had used a key to unlock the cupboard (neither of my neighbours were home) so they would have had a key to get into my flat.

I'm glad I changed it and this key gives me peace of mind as they are harder to pick. I got an extra 3 cut as well.

The lock fits OK but from the outside the key turn action is not as smooth as it should be. Seems to be a little resistance in turning within the barrel. As a result I do not recommend this brand of lock. Lubricating internally with graphite powder had no affect.

The information given on the website gave instructions on how to remove the current cylinder and how to correctly measure the replacement cylinder. The existing cylinder protruded at the outside of the door and was probably a security risk. The new cylinder fitted flush with the face of the door. It was easy to fit and it certainly appears to be a high quality product. I am sure that the security of the door is much improved and the price was very good.

Excellent product. Delivered quickly with extra keys. MUCH better security. Overall highly recommended. As this lock does not protrude from the outside door it cannot be snapped off. Also insurance companies prefer this type. Simply to fit with just a screw to remove but make sure you get the correct size to ensure a perfect fit.

does the job

Great product no issues all good

Great locks, eat to fit, very secure and would recommend :)

Great service and top quality replacement locks that I installed easily myself. Very easy company to deal with, especially when I needed to get some advice on sizing and cutting alike. The new locks are spot on and a much more secure fit than the last ones we inherited with our new house.

Good strong secure lock that was easy to fit, quality finish too hasn’t faded or pitted since It was fitted, highly recommend . Delivery and customer service was excellent.

Have purchased from other brands before but none come up to the standard set by avocet even the keys are sturdy

well pleased

Really nice product and service

Replaced my standard Euro cylinder door lock in my front door, with this far superior lock. As a novice, I researched quality locks and modern security, and read a load of online reviews, which led me to these Avocet ABS locks. Very well made, and with the 3-star security that is recommended for the most secure locks, I followed the easy instructions to measure exactly the right size, and ordered. Very straightforward to fit - even for a novice to door locks like me. It's now been a few months, and I'm very happy with this purchase.

It took around 30 seconds to install the new lock, and that includes removing the old one. Such well made, solid unit, far sturdier than one that sounds like SALE which it replaced. I’d happily recommend it to anyone and will replaced the rest of the Eurolocks around the house with similar

The Avocet Cylinder lock is beautifully engineered with obvious and significant security features for a very reasonable price. Very easy to install (make sure you order the correct dimensions) and then compare it with the average locks that are supplied with most Patio, Conservatory and other replacement doors. This lock is a much better quality!

Not the cheapest lock but these have a real solid feel of quality once installed and operate smoothly. I ordered a set of 3 keyed alike locks which took minutes to fit once you look up the Eurolock installation method. I intend to upgrade the patio doors and can order more keyed alike locks using the code provided.

fantastic

Great lock. Quality is premium and it feels solid. Best locks I ever had

I'm absolutely delighted by this euro cylinder. I bought it as part of a set of 3 keyed-alike cylinders for a house purchase. A feature I was particularly impressed by is the fact that the thumbturn is the same profile as the rest of the cylinder, meaning I didn't have to fiddle with an allen key to remove and replace the turn unit. Overall, a unit and a brand that I would have no hesitation in recommending.

I spoke to the sales team who were extremely helpful. I placed my order which arrived within two days. I highly recommend Safe.co. UK .

The cylinder locks are just what I needed to provide the security I wanted for my external doors. The locks are well made and work perfectly, also very easy to fit, and look good. I also like the fact I could have these locked keyed alike. I would recommend these locks if home security is important to you.

Very easy to fit, and seems solid. I don't have enough knowledge to say much about security, but the lockpicking lawyer over on Youtube says good things about these locks.

The 'turn alike' feature is fantastic; I've never had it before, and didn't realise I'd like it as much as I do. It doesn't sound like a big deal to have to carry fewer keys around, but never having to search for the right key at the door is great.

They did cost more than I'd ideally like to have paid - but they look as though they will last many years.

The locks were of excellent quality and very easy to fit. The website offered simple instructions to allow the correct sizes to be measured. The key alike system works really well and allows the same key to be used in several doors. The delivery was extremely fast and secure. No problems at all.

I bought six of these barrels keyed alike to replace a large bunch of keys. The quality is good and they are easy to fit, if a little expensive. One came faulty and had to be returned though Safe.Co were actually extremely helpful.

Excellent build quality, very easy to install, operates smoothly and looks really good. Ordered using the keyed alike feature which makes life easier. Decent value for money and the thumb turn operation is really good. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone. It was delivered way sooner than expected too.

A well made and good looking product that has the feel of quality about it.

It’s was very easy to fit to an en existing door lock and secured with just one screw.

The thumb turn action is very smooth and the added security features has given us piece of mind when we are away from home

I bought two Avocet ABS 3 Star Euro Thumbturn Cylinders which were keyed-alike - both cylinders work with the same key.

The keys don't have any sharp edges which helps to protect my pockets.

The cylinders are good quality, were easy to fit and easy to use.

The staff were really helpful and made it easy to get exactly what I needed.

The sizing guide on the website was clearly laid out and easy to use. I bought a matched pair of locks for a property and they fitted in no problem thanks to the guide. Order was shipped and delivered much sooner than indicated on the website which was a bonus.

I decided to replace my door cylinders as I wasn’t happy with the quality and security of my old ones. I chose these cylinders for their features and quality and I’ve not been disappointed.

These are beautifully made top quality high security cylinders (almost as shame to hide them in the door) and I chose the added feature of getting a pair with the same key for the front and back of my house. I fitted them both in a couple of minutes and I felt more secure immediately. The added convenience of only needing one key for both doors is a bonus. Highly recommended!

I purchased a set of four suited locks of various sizes to increase the security of our house. The keys look distinctive, are smooth and very easy to use. Fitting was easy, even for a novice like me. The locks appear of very good quality but I cannot independently rate how much they have improved the security over the locks previously fitted. It was easy to measure and order the correct sizes. I would recommend suited locks if you have several outside doors as it saves have a big bunch of keys and the search to find the right one! I have kept the old locks so that I can change one back if I need to give access to a workman without the worry of reducing the security all the locks!

Great product and easy to fit. Good design.

I bought this lock with two others, all keyed alike. The locks were delivered promptly and were of the correct size and were all keyed alike correctly, including the additional spare keys I requested. It was easy to fit the lock, it even came with a new retaining screw. As it is anti-snap I feel a lot more secure in my house, as lock snapping has become a lot more of a common MO for burglars and is frighteningly easy to do. It also looks a lot better than my previous lock and feels more secure. Thanks very much!

Very fast delivery - very easy to fit - about 5 mins each door. Best of all just one key fits all entry points

Excellent product with a smooth operation, looks good and was very easy to fit

the biggest advantage was being able to order alike cylinders very easily.

The delivery was prompt and efficient.

Product build quality excellent, ease of fitting likewise and it’s a pleasure to use, smooth in operation and of a good finish.

Great product especially with the amount of lock snapping occuring these days. Product was easy to measure up for, easy to order, delivery was quick and easy to install. Overall really impressed, especially as I now only have to carry one key to access all my doors. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent quality lock, simple to fit and the keys are brilliant. I purchased the brass version and they look visually superior to the old cheap ones they have replaced. I purchased three keyed alike locks and spare keys for all the family. They seem to be extremely secure and well made. They were expensive but reassuringly so. It might also be worth contacting your house and contents insurance provider and inform them that you have 3 star rated locks now fitted, you may be eligible for a discount on your premium as your property is now far more secure and resistant to theft.

The lock arrived quickly and was well packaged and despite being during the lock down there was no delay to it’s arrival. It took just five minutes to fit the lock and was very straight forward.

The look and finish of the lock is high quality and easy to use.

The lock was part of a set as I changed all locks at the same time, and all appear to be of the same high quality. I especially liked the option to have all the locks made to the same key number. This has enabled me to massively reduce the number of keys I carry, so overall very happy with the end result.

The product was exactly as described. Purchased as part of a number of these of different configurations using a single key. All of them fitted exactly, and the actual process of fitting the new lock was a doddle (although the removal of one of the locks was a pain). Much better than the locks that were removed, which had little or no protection from Ne'er do wells.

Amazing product, service, and delivery. Customer service team were very helpful over the phone with a query before I ordered. The locks were dispatched quickly and safely. The locks are very robust and were very straightforward to fit. Will come back to Safe for all future locks and keys in the future.

All good, easy ordering great customer service, iven when I messed up ! fantastic!! I cant emphersise enough both how good the cylinder is (although i already know this as i have two others, all keyed alike) but also how good the servive was from Safe.co.uk it made the transaction both smooth and easy

Very easy to fit with straight forward instructions.

Recessed nicely on outside of door ie pliers cannot agrip onto it.

Smooth operation of lever when locking / unlocking.

Very impressed and good value.

Very happy with these cylinders (I bought two, keyed alike, for my workshop). There were no issues fitting them and they have been functioning well since. I can't really comment on the security aspect apart from the accreditation they come with - I haven't been broken into yet! As far as I'm concerned it's all good :=)

I bought this 3-star euro thumb turn cylinder for my flat’s front door and I’m very pleased with it. It was easy to swap over, fits perfectly, and feels very secure. The keys are the best I’ve bought so far, I received extra keys, and it arrived very quickly. Solid, reliable, and well worth it.

Great product and easy to install

We purchased the thumb turn lock as part of a three-lock “keyed alike” pack to replace our existing 20-year-old locks, which were no longer secure enough. In particular, the old locks were not anti-snap, a feature we considered essential. The 3-star TS rating was also an important factor for us.

The pack arrived within a few days. Fitting Euro locks is straightforward, requiring only a screwdriver and a basic understanding of how to position the key in the lock to release the old cylinder before fitting the new one. There are plenty of helpful videos on YouTube that explain the process clearly.

The thumb turn lock is fitted to our main “means of escape” exit, meaning that in the event of a fire or other emergency, there is no need to find a key to leave the house. It therefore provides strong protection against unauthorised entry while still allowing for rapid and safe escape—exactly what we needed.

Excellent addition to a keyed alike set of locks. Good service from knowledgeable staff. This is the we’d third time I have ordered from this comii pi any and they have been consistently good.

This range of locks are extra secure, easy to fit and come in a wide range of sizes to tailor exactly to my requiremrnts

Moved home and needed to replace the old locks (you should always replace locks when moving into a new place) looked at a few makes and decided to use these, I liked that you could get them where you can use just the one key in all the locks, easy to swap over and they also look good too.

Solid product. Needed to replace old cylinders as moved into a new property.

Placed order and received within a few days. Packaging was unusual but no issues, all arrived safely with spare keys etc.

All info needed to register keys provided. Hopefully won't need to buy new anytime soon but would buy from here again.

Excellent locks. I fitted 3 locks to the front door, patio door, and garage door, all locks using the same key!! No more searching for the correct key in the dark!. Good quality with hard chrome finish. Highly recommend.

Very good product and good quality, easy to install. I am very happy with the product.

If you want a secure yet easy to open lock then this is an excellent lock to go with. Fits euro locks as per normal and comes with fitting screws if needed. The blade style fits in sideways for insertion so opening might seem odd to begin with but its actually really easy to lock and unlock as the key fits in both ways to turn. This is unlike most standard blade style keys where the teeth are only on one side and the ridges only allow insertion one way. This is a 3 star lock that was even sent to lockpickinglawyer a genius in lockpicking and it required special tools to defeat so the security is legit

Easy to fit, they turn smoothly too - much better than our old locks. Being able to order different sizes keyed alike was very useful, as it has reduced the number of keys I have to carry. The locks and keys arrived in good time, and the key reordering card will be useful if we ever need more keys in the future.

The Avocet ABS 3 Star - Euro Double Cylinder 50 - 50 (100mm Polished Chrome) is a great lock that looks good and is easy to fit. It feels solid and I like that we could get it keyed alike with other locks in our house. It was easy to order and arrived quickly.

The Avocet ABS 3 Star Euro Thumbturn Cylinder 40-50 is an outstanding security upgrade for any home or office. It offers excellent build quality, smooth operation, and peace of mind with its 3-star Kitemark certification. The thumbturn design adds convenience for quick locking and unlocking without needing a key inside. Its anti-snap, anti-pick, and anti-drill features provide top-tier protection against break-ins. Installation is simple and precise, making it ideal for both professionals and DIY users. Overall, this cylinder delivers superb reliability, style, and advanced security performance — a perfect choice for anyone looking to enhance door safety with premium quality.

Trivial to install, key matching is a must, as is a thumbturn on front door for fire safety. Superb build quality and the security level of this is one of the highest, just watch the LockPickingLawyer video on this range of locks.

perfect for patented keys.

easy to install and quick delivery

this euro cylinder lock set is great, solid construction, smooth operation, and very easy installation. Each cylinder feels reassuringly weighty, and the keyed-alike feature is a game-changer for anyone tired of juggling multiple keys.

Yes, it's pricey but it feel well made and operates very smoothly.

Installation? Ridiculously simple. One screw. That’s it. Undo, swap, tighten. No fiddling, no frustration. I had all locks swapped out in under ten minutes, and I’m no locksmith.

Overall: If you value quality and convenience—and don’t mind investing a bit more— Its hard to rate something that you hope to never test.

I was looking for several locks as keyed alike. They were all the same quality as this one and I would be very happy to buy this again, although seeing as it is so well built I doubt we will be needing any. The keys all work so nicely.

If I knew about these type of locks before I would have bought them for my previous house.

High quality, expensive but gives peace of mind

Good level of security, easy to fit and robust. Great style and when paired with the maximum security 2* handles I hope that we are as secure as it is possible to be! Easy to understand and order the master key option. Quick delivery & good communication throughout the process.

Review of the Avocet ABS 3 Star -Euro thumbturn cylinder 45-55 (100mm polished chrome). The product was of a high quality and was very easy to install. The package arrived very quickly to our address at St David’s Pembs. Safe. Co.uk is an excellent company to buy from. So place your order from this highly efficient company.

As expected, super easy to fit. The security of these is well known, just watch the LockPickingLawyer video on YouTube. Very happy with this lock cylinder. It is very smooth and packed full of features which are a little less useful on a half cylinder but keyed alike makes for a great set of cylinders for your house.

I would certainly recommend the Avocet ABS 3 Star - Euro Thumbturn Cylinder 35 - 35 (70mm Polished Chrome). It’s a fantastic lock and has been exactly what we need for our driveway door. The build quality is excellent, it’s been very easy to install, and is very secure. Can recommend!

Brilliant website, fast delivery and superb quality products. What’s not to love?!

Well worth the extra cost when you see how easy it is to break into houses with standard euro locks. Good quality product and easy to install.

I needed a good quality 3 star thumbturn for a job. I wanted Avocet as I've always found they operate easily and smoothly, unlike some that can be fussy to accept the key. Also ordered extra keys as there were to be 20 different users and expected all 20 keys to operate perfectly which they did. Ordered from Safe.co.uk and received everything promptly and as ordered, thank you.

Great looking thumbturns! Just make sure you get the measurements correct.

After buying a new house I wanted to replace the locks. I bought a keyed alike set of these locks all with thumb turns. Fitting was very easy, as with most euro cylinders. I was expecting big ugly knobs, but the thumb turns are the same shape as the cylinder which also gives an indication of where it is turned. The silver finish looks lovely. A relatively high price, but would buy again

As a construction professional I have bought locks from Safe a couple of times. I have found there service first class and you always have the back up if required of phoning to get the correct advice.

They are spot on with their quality and price point as I have checked other suppliers. I don’t do reviews often, but Safe is highly recommended.
