The lock feels solid and positive in its action; there is a more convincing snap when it closes than with cheaper padlocks I have owned. We have some bolt locations close to the ground outside, and the padlock's protective plastic cover is working well so far. The lack of a spring action when it is unlocked is a little unusual, but a gentle pull is sufficient. Removing the little Z-bar to make it non-key-retaining is a bit of a fidget, but it had the desired effect. They have only been in place for a few weeks, so we do not know yet if the keyhole cover plastic will last repeated use, and whether the padlock resists dirt and water over the long term, but it is good so far.
