I bought two of these at this time to supplement the ones that came with my alarm kit.

They are OK...One failed within a day of installation (it was continually triggering the alarm, which upset the neighbours, but what can you do?).

I was directed by Safe.Com customer support to speak to Response Electronics (I guess the owning company of ERA) and their customer service replaced this without any issues.

The sensors are not hugely sensitive - in a hot room they don't see you - but I guess this is by design so they don't get triggered by cats and dogs.

Overall I'm happy with these sensor. They do what they're supposed to.

Details
The ERA Wireless Alarm series are a range of smart home security alarms designed to give you ultimate control of your home security. The intuitive wireless system has been designed with DIY in mind ensuring no wiring or running cables in walls or under the carpet and you won't need the services of a qualified electrician.

The pet friendly sensor activates when larger movement is detected. The detector should be placed in the corner of rooms that are vulnerable to intruders at a minimum height of 2 metres. This makes a detection area of 110 degrees with a 8 metre radius, making it ideal for homes with one small pet (less than 20 - 25kg). When the alarm is armed an infrared sensor will detect any larger movement and activate the loud alarm siren.

How do you open the sensor to change the battery?

As long as the pet is under the weight of 20-25kg the PIR would not detect any movement.

I understand the minimum height for the Era PIR Pet Sensor is 2 meters. Can you please confirm the recommended height and also the maximum height as I have very tall ceilings. Thanks

2 meters is also the recommended height for placement to ensure optimum coverage. There is no designated maximum height as such, but bare in mind the range and field of view will be affected by the angle at which the sensor is positioned.

Can these be mounted with a bracket or are they adhesive only?

I have a couple of storage rooms on the exterior of my house (old coal shed etc). Brick built with wooden doors windows etc. No heating but dry. Would an ERA pet friendly PIR be best or a door sensor? Considering no heating in uk weather.

Providing it won't be exposed to the elements we would advise the Pet PIR. These are commonly used to great effect in garden sheds. I would expect your outbuildings to be similar. The only possible issue might be getting the signal back to the base unit through the brick outbuilding walls and your house exterior wall. The only way to know for sure would be try them. If it doesn't work all or part of the alarm can be returned.

I have an ERA "Invincible" system. I have just had to change the batteries in one of my PIRs. I am concerned that the others will need changing when I am away, how long should the batteries last?
