I was replacing an old Chubb deadlock which is no longer made and my local

Locksmith could not offer me anything close to the size. This Asec lock was the nearest in size that I could find online, but I still had to do some chipping away in the door to get it correctly installed. Now it’s working fine and I appreciate its silky smooth operation. The previous lock had rusted inside because the door faces directly on to a beach and receives some salt spray in the winter time. The Asec lock has a protective curtain in the keyhole, so hopefully that will provide some protection. It was very easy to shop online with safe.co.uk and the lock came very quickly, with a pair of keys. 3 keys would have been nice, I have to say, but at this price, I am happy with 2.

Can I assume that the "stainless steel version" of this lock has stainless steel key hole covers and end plates and not brass ones as shown in the photo?

As standard the Asec BS 5 Lever Deadlock (76mm, Stainless Steel) is supplied Keyed to Differ which means the lock includes a set of keys that are unique and will only open this lock. If you require multiple locks you can choose to have them all Keyed Alike, meaning that each lock can be opened using the same key.

What is Keyed to Differ?

  • Keyed to Differ is the standard way a lock is supplied.
  • Each lock is opened by its own unique key.
  • Each lock includes a unique set of keys.
  • Covered by our returns policy.

What is Keyed Alike?

  • Each key can open multiple locks - the same key could unlock your house and office.
  • Locks need to be the same brand and number of levers.
