Details
The Phoenix Datacare DS2002k is tested and approved to the Swedish NT FIRE 017 Diskette fire test and provides up to 90 minutes fire protection for computer media such as disks and tapes. The safe door is fitted with a high security dimple key lock and utilises a double door construction with double water resistant seals on inner door ensuring the internal temperature of the safe does not exceed 52°C, the temperature at which data media will begin to corrupt. This model is also available in 2 other sizes.

Good specification and build quality. Ratio of external size to interior storage space is not as good as the larger models but we did not have the space to go for the larger one so had to compromise

Can the Phoenix Datacare be bolted to the floor?

This safe cannot be bolted to the floor. At the time of writing any safe specifically designed to protect tapes or film from fire cannot have fixing holes in the base as they will compromise the high level of protection required.

The only model available at the moment is the Phoenix Data Combi which will protect tapes and film and can be bolted to the floor using a specially designed base fixing tray called a PAD4. This allows the safe to be bolted to the floor using the tray rather than holes in the actual safe.

Another alternative would be a Digital Media Safe but they are designed to protect DVD’s and hard drives - they will NOT protect tapes or film. The level of protection required for digital media is lower and these selected models do include holes in the base allowing them to be bolted to the floor.
