I did a fair bit of research online to find a digital door lock that could be used on an external door and settled on the Lockey 2435K. The expert chippy who fitted it reckoned that the instructions were slightly odd (recommending drilling an unnecessarily huge hole for the spindle bar) but once fitted, the lock is excellent. Very glad that we went for the version with key override as it is a huge bonus in terms of ease of use. Well made lock, excellent value for money, highly recommended - would buy again. 5 star.

Can the barrel be changed?

Though these locks can be keyed alike the barrels cannot be changed due to the way the spindle is attached to the back of the cylinder.

Can a digital lock fail to operate on its key code to unlock? What are the reason for this?
Anonymous
There is very little chance that this lock would not operate by the code that you have set. Each button can be set as active or inactive by swapping blue and red tumblers on the inside. Therefore, the lock cannot be tampered with and a wrong code cannot be set by mistake.

Should you encounter any problems with the code, there is an override key and the lock is covered by a manufacturers 12 month warranty.
