Codelocks CL510 (Stainless Steel)

I bought this Codelocks lock to protect a small cupboard, however this particular model is really designed for large doors. Just be aware that only the larger/pricer models have a full size handle.

I found the price to be quite reasonable, and as always Safe's customer support is top-notch and they helped to quickly facilitate a return and replacement with a faulty unit that I had.

Fitting the lock was quite tricky, with multiple holes of different sizes needing to be drilled as well as rebating the door and frame for the strike plate etc, which needs to be lined up perfectly to allow the latch to enter the strike plate whilst keeping the deadlock plunger out. I ended up calling a locksmith and having it fitted properly!

Now that it's in place, I find it very nice to use - the full size handle really helps especially as this is the only handle on the door now, much better than those fiddly round knob versions! The whole lock unit is pretty 'meaty' and feels very solid and good quality, as do the impressively sturdy buttons.

The lock does get fairly regular use and in the limited time that I've owned and used it so far, it seems to be of good solid construction and hasn't caused any problems.

I would rate the security as medium since I know that there are ways to get around these if one is so determined and being a mechanical lock it's also possible to 'brute-force' guess your way through every possible combination, given enough time! However that's relatively unlikely and the benefits of the lock far outweigh the cons for a low-to-medium security application. The main 'pros' for me being the solid construction (which I believe can be used outside as well), ease of use, reliable functionality and good security for the price.

As previously mentioned, Safe's customer service is top-notch and I'd have no problem recommending them for any purchases you may need to make in the security field! They're always my go-to shop for security stuff. Codelocks as a brand are probably the best name in these kind of mechanical door/cupboard code locks and I own a couple of their products now, and have had a similar experience with both of them.

Overall, I'm happy to highly recommend both Safe and Codelocks products.

The process of ordering was straightforward, and the product was delivered promptly. Whilst the locks have been fitted, the building they restrict access to is not yet operational so cannot fully review the product. However, the build quality seems very good, and robust. We are looking forward to the operation of the locks.
